Issue with Roon Server on Windows 11 not detecting Devialet Phantoms via 5g wifi bridge (ref#IPLQ0U)

Full form submission

What’s happening?

I'm having trouble with my DAC, speakers, streamer, etc.

What best describes the issue with your audio device?

Device has never appeared under Audio in Settings

I have used Roon happily for a few years. I always used a NUC but somrtimes when traveling I used the Roon Seerver on my PC running windows 11. I recently moved and dont have access to my NUC. I bought a pair of devialet phantoms (as i am waiting for my other system to arrive) and tried using the server on my PC. But it doesnt see the phantoms. Obviously I tried stopping the fire wall but to no affect. Any ideas? Im using a 5g wifi bridge setup.

Check the new speakers, maybe you need to enable a “Roon mode” somewhere in there settings first?

There is also the possibility of a misconfigured network. If the speakers are not in the same network as the server then they don’t get detected by Roon Server. More details than you provided about your network setup are needed though to diagnose or help with that over the forum. Meanwhile, make sure to follow:

Thank you for your response Blackjack,

I have looked at the setting for the devialet phntom app but cant find an option to enable Roon Mode. There is an option to use wifi but I turned that on and nothing changed. I am able to use a UpNp connection from my phone with the Bubbleupnp app, that uses chromecast wich is obviously better than bluetooth but not up to Roon. The speakers and Roon are on teh same network, I am sure of that. I am using a TP-link Deco Wi-Fi mesh setup on 5G. I will go back over the settings of the Devialet App, my PC and the WiFi network and let you know if I find any other information. Thank you again, Troy

Hi @Troy_Wear,
Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

Hi Daniel, thank you for taking the time to respond. unfortunatley both of them are already added as exceptions and the network I am using is “Private”.
One thing I did notice in the exception list was 2 RAATserver.exe exceptions. I have however uninsatalled and reinstalled the program so maybe they are orphans.
I tried to connect the speaker and PC through the original router (i’m using a mesh as well) with cables and still it didnt see the speaker!
In the past I have used Roon with a NUC and it was a dream, no problems at all. this is confusing me.
Thank you again, any other ideas are welcome

We’ve enabled diagnostics on your account and noticed that no endpoints are displaying. This usually has to do with a firewall issue. I also think @AMT is right that you could be running into a subnet issue as well.

Everything is connected to the mesh Wi-Fi (Tp-Link). The TP-Link has a facility to wire the speakers to the satelite hub via a LAN cable. So currently the Phantoms are connected to the TP-Link with a LAN cable and the server (running on my PC) is connected wirelessly to the same network. I’m stuck. Thank you for your help

Endpoints being speakers? Currently nothing is displaying on roon setup screen. I will look into the subnet issue. Thank you

Yes, endpoints are speakers, displays, and anything else that Roon can play to.

Thats the problem, no endpoints are displaying. I’m not sure if this helps you but the remote app on my phone sees the roon server but when i try to connect to it, it just “hangs” and doesnt connect

What was the result of looking into this? Can the devialet be found in your in your router admin panel?

The laptop and phone and speakers a appear on the mesh network. It’s confusing

Okay so in your picture I see 2 items labeled Phanthom1Gold. I assume these are the Devialets you are trying to find? If so we need to compare their IP addresses to the one for your laptop to see if they are on the same subnet.

Hmm, I think we are getting somwhere.
This is the IP situation
PC: 192.168.68.103
Phantom1: 192.168.68.101
Phantom2: 192.168.68.105

Well, all of those are on the same subnet. So let me consult with the rest of the team. I’ll get back to you when I have some next steps.

Hi Daniel, did you find anything out?

Sorry for the delay in responding. I have a few suggestions for you.

  • Try hardwiring your server and a Devialet to your main tp-link router and see if it can be found.
  • Make sure your Devialets are using the 5G band and not the 2.5gHz
  • In your TP-link router ensure all settings related to IGMP snooping are enabled.
