Describe the issue

I have Roon installed on windows. Usually I connect Khadas tone 2 to Core via usbC and installed ASIO drivers and firmware and I listen to PCM and NATIVE DSD through asio driver flawlessly. But since on the go I recently purchased FIIO BTR 15 I tried to connect to Roon to the PC MODE via usbC since it can read dsd until 128 I think, no matter since my files are DSD 64. I installed two type of FIIO drivers, namely FIIO ASIO and FIIO WASAPI and no matter how many combinations I make with file formats that is Native or Dop, and with volume fixed or managed through Wasapi, it DOESNT SOUND UNLESS I convert to PCM. That is NOT the point, I want to see FIIO BTR15 display the logo DSD AND listen to MUSIC. By the way I installed apk on my motorola razr 50 ultra Roon ARC and it CANT READ BITPERFECT Roon. It works with FIIO KA5 dongle as expected but not bitperfect with fiio btr 15 unless I resign to 48 khz audio conversion. Yes, I disabled volume normalisation. So I have two "bitperfect ROON problems" with FIIO BTR 15

Describe your network setup

Roon installed on windows pc connected wired to TP deco link router. I have the problem with a specific device, btr 15, not with other devices. Currently I connect Roon wired to Khadas tea on one room, then to Xduoo MH02 and topping E50 via Roon Bridge with Raspberry Pi5 with Roopie and ocassionally I use roon cored Wiim ProPlus, all of them without problems and all work with bitperfect as expected (Wiim pro plus cant accept dsd so Roon convert to PCM, but in that case I accept it). The problem is JUST FIIO BTR 15

During my tests changing audio configuration and volume control with FIIO drivers my ROON CORE GOT MAD. The Audio zones appeared and disappeared after just seconds. Even my reliable Khadas asio driver was not recognised. My solution? Uninstall FIIO driver on my PC. And Khadas Tea began to work again. But it is not the point!!! I woud like to connect FIIO BTR15 as audio output if I like. Explain me how the audio confif should be with BTR 15 in PC mode.

Hello @Leonardo_Christian,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support.

Step 1: Clean Driver Installation

Let’s begin by ensuring the FiiO driver is properly installed and no remnants of previous versions are causing conflicts:

  1. Uninstall Existing Drivers
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall all FiiO drivers.
  2. Reboot Your PC
    Restart your Windows machine.
  3. Download & Install the Latest Driver
Visit FiiO’s official website and download the latest USB DAC driver for the BTR15. Install it.
  4. Reboot Again
After installation, restart your PC once more.

Step 2: Configure in Roon

Once the driver is installed, let’s configure the device in Roon:

  1. Enable the Device
In Roon, go to Settings > Audio. Locate the FiiO BTR15 under the ASIO section and click Enable.
  2. Open Device Setup
Click the gear icon next to the BTR15 and open Device Setup.
  3. Recommended Settings:
  • Volume Control: Fixed Volume
  • DSD Playback Strategy: Convert to PCM

We recommend starting with DoP, as it is the most compatible and reliable method to enable DSD playback on your BTR15. Once confirmed working, you can optionally try switching to Native DSD, but DoP typically offers the best stability.

Please keep in mind that the FiiO BTR15 is not a Roon Tested or Roon Ready device, meaning it hasn’t been officially certified by Roon Labs for seamless, plug-and-play operation.

If the issue persists, let us know the exact local time and date when you attempted playback, so we can investigate further using diagnostic logs.
