How can we help?

I'm having trouble adding music to my library

Hello,
I'm in the testing phase of Roon and am having problems importing my playlists from MediaMonkey.

Reading my MP3 and FLAC files went smoothly. However, the playlist that was displayed in Roon referred to “outdated” m3u files from a data backup.

I deleted these old m3u and replaced them with the current versions. But for some reason they don't show up in Roon now.
Of course, I had all storage locations in the Roon settings, e.g. the “Music Folder”, read in again, without success.

There is another problem: Even if Roon “finds” the m3u, it would only ever be a snapshot. At MediaMonkey, the playlists are an integral part of the database. You can read the m3u files and save them in Explorer (e.g. as a data backup), but if changes and deletions are made in MediaMonkey or new playlists are created, this has no influence on the previously read m3u files.

What is shown in Roon is becoming increasingly outdated. Is there a way that changes to the playlists in MediaMonkey can be reflected directly in Roon?

And one last problem: In MediaMonkey I have a folder structure with deep subfolders. Roon displays this in its sidebar in such a way that it reads out the entire file name: Archive-Jazz-Vocal-50s-Ella Fitzgerald-live-etc. That's too long for the sidebar. Therefore, is there a way to make the sidebar larger?
Or alternatively, set Roon so that some elements of the long playlist name can be omitted, for example: 50s-Ella Fitzgerald- live?
Thank you in advance, kind regards

Roon can only import/read from m3u files. Media Monkey itself has no way for any other music player to read its database. As they say in their Wiki, you have to export the playlist to a file, which obviously will be static, so another player can read it.

No way to increase the side bar size, However, you should be able to rename the playlist, by clicking the 3 dot menu and then Edit.

Hi @Joachim_Burger,
Welcome to the Roon community! Did @Rugby’s advice solve your issue?

Thank you for the quick and precise answer. It’s a shame that MediaMonkey and ROON don’t work together in this regard. Is there another music player where this works better? I would like to continue using my playlists; a lot of work goes into them.

Not as far as I have found.
