Jerky scrolling on iPhone 15 Pro Max iOS 18.1.1

Roon Version 2.0 (build 1490)

I have seen several related tickets on the issue of jerky scrolling on iOS. I have made a video demonstrating the issue which I have experienced I will try and link here.

I subsequently found this ticket:-

Pro-Series iOS Phones Not Locking to 120FPS Refresh Rate [Ticket In: Affecting Pro-Series iPhones] - Support - Roon Labs Community

This seems to indicate that whilst the scrolling performance of the iOS roon app is not perfect there is an issue with 120fps (pro-motion?) that is specific to some iOS devices and that it is believed has been successfully addressed by your dev team. I can report that the scrolling performance is still significantly better (but still not a smooth as with safari) if I enable screen recording and therefore the 120 fps is not being used on my devices when scrolling in roon.

I don’t think that this quote…

…meant that the fix had already been implemented. I can’t see any difference anyway on my 15 Pro Max, same behavior as when this thread started.

I think you are right, otherwise it would be “the specific fix we’ve implemented” I guess.

FWIW I installed the Test Flight Beta of the iOS apps and the issue remains.

Shame. I wonder how long it will be before it is fixed.

Considering that it’s been an issue since the first ProMotion 120hz displays were released, I’m guess not anytime soon, if ever.

ARC which I’ve heard is Flutter based doesn’t have the same issue, so it’s probably some technical issue with the still Xamarin or MAUI based Roon iOS apps. Just a guess.

On my IP 13PM, It’s jerky as hell. One thing is that 120fps/hz is still an issue (in 2026 that shouldn’t be a case). But this is at best 30fps. Just trying out the 11 week campaign atm, and the iOS app being a stuttering mess was literally my first impression Roon

Go to settings and limit your phone’s frame rate… this fixed the issue for me.

The app becomes much better behaved after this rate fix.

Made zero difference. But regarding my 30fps comment above: it’s actually 60fps. Guess I’ve just gotten so used to 120, that 60fps felt like 30fps. Still, every other app supports 120fps/hz, except the one app that wants to charge me 830usd for lifetime:slightly_smiling_face:
