🙄 just accidentally bought a non roon ready dap

Ibasso dx180. I forgot to check it was roon ready. It isnt, and nor is anything ibasso that i can see. I was going to be using it to access arc on the road but also mainly as a roon end point on wifi at home. Do i need to send it back still unopened, or will roon recognise it as a player on the network? Cheers

It runs Android 13 I believe.

If you have the Google Play Store, then you should be able to install Roon and Arc.

The Roon app will allow it to be a Roon endpoint and then Arc…well it is Arc

I thought the roon app only allows use as remote (and not ad an end point) when linking to a different roon server? Sorry for being a bit basic…im still learning

Roon on Android also creates a private zone for playback. You can enable this by navigating to Settings > Audio on the App. Private zones can only be controlled from the phone / DAP. You may turn off this setting under Device Settings.

iBasso DX180 can install and run the Roon app from the Play Store, but doesn’t have capability to bypass Android resampling to 48khz (i.e., not bit-perfect), if that matters to you.
