I was kicked out of Tidal, while listening to music. Could only reconnect after restarting my PC (Roon server & user interface).
Hello @Johan_Vanheerswynghe,
Thank you for reaching Roon support.
While the symptom you experienced was being “kicked out of Tidal,” the underlying cause was actually a complete drop of your PC’s network connection.
Looking at the logs, at exactly 10:40:03, your Marantz SACD 30n stopped receiving data from Roon. Immediately after, the system started throwing severe network errors, primarily:
NetworkUnreachable: Er is geprobeerd een socketbewerking uit te voeren op een onbereikbaar netwerk(A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network).
This indicates that the Roon Server PC completely lost its connection to your local network and the internet. Because Roon could no longer reach Tidal’s servers to verify your account or fetch the audio stream, it dropped the connection, which is why a full PC restart was required to re-establish the network link.
You mentioned using “High speed extenders” in your network setup. Network extenders (especially those running over Wi-Fi or Powerline) can sometimes drop their connection to the main router momentarily, causing the exact behavior seen in these logs.
If this happens again, before restarting the PC, check to see if your computer can load a standard webpage. If it cannot, the issue is with the PC’s connection to the extender or the extender’s connection to the router.
If possible, we highly recommend hardwiring your Roon Server PC directly to the main router with an Ethernet cable to avoid these extender dropouts!
Hardwiring is not possible in my house.
Thanks for the reply. Is this something you’d be able to test temporarily?
It would be good to review our Networking Best Practices guide as well, as it helps explain the importance of why we suggest such setups:
Feel free to share a more specific date, time, and name of track playing the next time you experience an issue and we’ll enable diagnostic mode on your Roon Server to take another look.
Thank you! ![]()
Roon relies on sustained TCP connections both between Roon Server and upstream servers and between your server and listening endpoints.
WiFi interference can cause packets to go missing during authentication and buffering, which can eventually overwhelm playback if Roon can’t re-request the data fast enough.
You don’t need to hardwire everything, but if you’re in a position to at least rely on an ethernet connection for the server itself, you’ll likely find the system much more stable.
Please let us know if we can help further. We’ll watch for your response.
