Description of Issue

reading issue when playing Miles Davis Kind of Blue FLAC 196Khz 24bits. neither local file or streamed from Qobuz works. randomly reading fail and move to the next track

Hello, that is weird. It plays fine here on my Bluesound Node X. I haven’t tried my Cambridge CXNv2 yet, but I’ve never seen something fail there either.

Have you tried rebooting your router and Roon core? It sounds like a network issue to me.

Hello. Yes many times. i never got the complete record w/o at least one track failing. the failed track is random and the elapsed tiime before fail ure as well.

Do other 192/24 albums work? And are you using DSP?

Hello, other FLAC 192khz 24bits works w/o this problem. There are no DSP involved when is-1000 is the end node.

hello it seems i have solved the problem that is very likely a networking issue.
i changed the port on the melco s100 to wire the goldnote IS-1000 from 5 (end node) to 6 (melco library end node) and now the reading is w/o any problem.

thanks for the support

finally the problem it still there. the cable to the end point was not correctly inserted in the switch and i did not notice the goldnote was using Wifi delivered by the fiber router.

trying all ports and all cables on the main switch (melco s100) did not deliver a stable configuration to deliver the 196 kHz 24bits RAAT traffic to the end point (Goldnote is-1000) for the complete album.

but when the end point is connected at the router level (wifi or cable) when the roon core + library remains on the main switch, this works (although a lower sound quality still works).

any idea or suggestion?

Hi @Pierre-Yves_Descombe,

We can take a closer look by pulling a diagnostic report from your device if you’d like.

Please note the recommended configuration from the S100 manual. This audiophile switch will be prioritizing throughput over upstream connectivity on certain ports; there may also be filtering on certain ports that is causing small amounts of packet loss to accumulate, affecting higher-quality streams.

I recommend trying this, which places the router and endpoint on the 100M port.

We’ll take a look at diagnostics once we hear back. Thank you!

Hello. i will give a try to this configuration on friday and will let you known any benefits and need for device status investigation.
Note that on the Melco FAQS there is an entry for configuring the S100 and they are describing a recommended configuration when using Roon.

let me add the way to their FAQ FAQs - Melco Audio

Typical problem with audiophile switches. Replacing the switch with a €20 TP-Link switch solves this kind of problems in most of the cases. Try it!

Hello Connor. i made the configuration change on friday and during played local and qobuz all FLAC resolution a whole day i was only able to see one track being shortened (see attached).
by the end of the day i realized i made a mistake having the router on 1Gbits port and Roon Core on 100Mbits port (cables are sale model).
since i have corrected (So Roon server on 1 Gbits port and Router and Roon End point on 100 Mbits ports, system was up and running friday night, Saturday all day and Sunday all day and i was not able to detect any track skipped, stopped or shortened. The system is very reactive and the track/Album transition are instantaneous.
i was only able to spot 1 case when roon radio did not start after one album and another where roon radio was not engaging its next track, i had to press the play key.
can you confirm stability with the new port mapping on the melco on your side? any possible investigation for the roon

radio issue?
thank you.
