Turned on Roon tonight on iPad and told me an update was available. Now 30 mins later and it is waiting for server. Why release a n update that breaks the server connection? Can’t you test it first. I am a paid up user not a beta tester. What do. i do now. I want to listen to music, not spend the rest of the night trying to sort this cock up.
Yes, exactly like that. On my iPad and iPhone.
I have tried selecting a different server on my iPad but same thing.
I have shut down my ROCK NUC and rebooted it, but same thing.
Update: I have tried to locate it on the web and not found. I have checked my hub and it is not listed as a connected device. I guess this update has completely fried the NUC install and there is no way to get it back without a complete reinstall. If this is the case, I will not bother. I don’t have the time for this anymore and I will cancel my Roon subscription. I am not paying for flaky product that breaks irsrlf with an update.
Did you update your Roon server? You need to update your server and all clients.
That updated your server only, so you‘ve got to go to Apple App Store to update your iPad Roon remote also, since that discrepancy might cause your issue.
This is the issue. It told me there was an update, I hit update all and it is now broken.
Update your iPhone and iPad from the Apple app store.
Thanks. Tried that and still waiting on server.
Can you go to the admin web page if you open http://rock in your web browser?
No. Server not found it says. Looks like the update has bricked my NUC.
Well, IF it’s dead it’s most likely a coincidence and any new update would have pushed it over the edge. But at this point it can easily be a network problem as well.
Can you see it listed as a connected device if you go to the web admin pages of your router?
Another possible next step would be to connect the NUC by HDMI to a monitor or TV and check if it shows any output.
Agreed - please try this and post a photo of any screen messages.
Not listed on my Router. In order to connect it to a TV with hdmi is a major hassle, but I will try it tomorrow. Incidentally , it had been running for about 2 years perfectly happily and the NUC is over specified for ROCK. Coincidence or not, it was the update that bricked it. If the update has bricked it, I will unsubscribe from Roon as I am not paying for dodgy software.
PS. If I sound ■■■■■■ off, that’s because I am. I wanted listen to music tonight, but if wasn’t for this dodgy update, I would have been doing just that. Instead I am on a support forum with no music.
Your choice but the evidence is flimsy.
I disagree, the evidence is concrete. It said update, I updated. It is broken.
Correlation is not causation. We will await your results of connecting it to your TV tomorrow. I understand your frustration, but let’s see what tomorrow will bring.
Connected to TV and rebooted. It gave me two options. 1. Do a complete reinstall or 2. re-install from existing installation. I chose 2 and it is back up and running. I had to to the update again so I stand by my original assumption that the update caused the issue.
Thanks for everyones input. Let’s hope the update goes smoothly for everyone else.
