Let's have some double bass – Now playing some double bass

@Inma_Quilez “Overpass” is a great album

Torben

Esperanza Spalding
Double bass master, coming from classical jazz, having played with so many legends when she was just in her 20’s, developing her very own style which is not one dimensional, as can be heard in her last album.

I got caught by her prog rocky album where she prefers the electric fretless bass, singing along with it.

Looking forward of what comes next from her.

Just one mention of Ron Carter so far. Let’s add another one that Marc Copland and Pablo Held pointed me to.

Einbahnstraße and Doom is my goto on this record, Ron with Herbie and Billy.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Renaud Garcia-Fons. To see as well as hear him play is utterly fascinating -sometimes referred to as the Paganini of double bass players.

Nice idea for a thread.

One of the greatest in recent history, imho.

A great album. Not solo double bass, but the lead is a bass player.
