Doh… I missed the details and summarized it.
Thanks Simon
I got rid of my Unify gear sometime ago as I wasn’t happy with the way things were going with them
It’s pretty much industrial grade stuff and I still have 100s of bits of kit in my work netw6, but it’s not for my home setup any more
What didn’t you like? I won’t use anything else these days. I had gear from all the others and always undelivered on what they said and awful to manage.
Actually I do use Fortinet Products. I got an enterprise network in my house. All redundant. Full wireless coverage. Use what you sell.
My Auralic is wirelessly connected to Roon core, which is a virtual machine running in the server room. I prefer the wireless connection over Ethernet.
Just little things they have done such as only allowing NAT routing on their larger boxes even though they can easily do full routing, nor allowing true layer 3 routing on their big switches. Stuff that drives someone like me mad.
I made a decision to simplify what was a way too complicated home network, and I am pretty happy with what I got from Orbi in truth Based on my real needs.
I understand that Unify is a huge step up when used to other home stuff, but having done it for years I didn’t want to come home and manage it at home as well
That time when you pick an album because it is a band you like and you’ve never heard of this particular work. Then find out it’s different band and they have the same name. Then you decide it’s pretty good.
So if I was to tell you I can hard crash an EdgeRouter every 24 hours and Unify were not interested in getting a fix for it Only way to fix it was to pull out the power lead.
But I do like them a lot and I use some of the long rage WiFi points as well to connect building (managed through the unms software) and mostly it is very good. I had an Edgerouter Pro at home until I decided that was overkill as well
Sonos Mesh was reliable but low bandwidth and the new 2022 models are much better
