Interesting opinion.

I’ve started another thread on this:

Fantastic album.

I added it to my queue, so you aren’t alone there.

I had this one queued before the above “best first” commentary and I think it also qualifies as a debut that was followed by nothing but disappointment. His subsequent works are good and his talent as a singer/songwriter is not really debatable in my opinion. But, nothing even came close to this album. It is near perfect.

A top 5 album for me and a cracking choice :+1:
Sadly I don’t own that one on vinyl, though I do have three other Lips albums on vinyl. I need to put that right and it is at the top of my list to get a reasonable priced vinyl of it.

Talking about unreasonably priced vinyl, which may be harsh given that there are 12 of them :face_with_peeking_eye:. This is my last of the live Dire Straits albums to listen to, 7 more sides to go after this :flushed:

Not on this thread you don’t, we have always posted and  them :+1:

Out for 2 and a half hours and out of threads inside the 3 minutes :face_with_hand_over_mouth: (of being back home)

Just going to leave this here, a game and genre changing album that was likely never bettered.

And still manages to sound fresh and relevant to this day nearly 60 years on!

I like it, although mostly it is panned universally if memory serves.

To be fair, Dolores could have drunkenly yodeled into a barrel filled with howling cats accompanied by a Theremin and I would probably like it. So, you know, grain of salt.

and we’re back home again! We visited our capital Amsterdam to do some power shopping, running errands and make fun of tourists with joints, sirup waffles and licorice…

Anyway time for music and some beverages…
using a playlist I made with the revealing name: Americana-Indie-Folk-Ladies… (Tori Amos, Jewel, Lana del Rey, Kara Grainger, Azure Ray, Grechen Peters and Sarah McLachlan amongst others)

A wholelotta win there.

That is indeed a great album.
Funny, whenever I see John Mayall’s name I instantly think about the fire at his home, where he lost his massive porn collection. Don’t know what that says about my thought processing :astonished:

In 1979, John had a devastating turn of events, when a brush fire destroyed his Laurel Canyon home and he lost music collections, archives, and one of the worlds largest and most valuable collections of pornography, dating back as far as the 13th century.

I would love to see the insurance contents list document for that claim.

What, for instance, would be the legalese for Isbeth Doeseth Paris?

One of my very favourite cities

I ticked-off a line on my ‘bucket list’ a few years ago by attending a concert at the Concertgebouw, a Beethoven programme if I remember, with his 4th Piano Concerto followed by his 7th Symphony.

I stumbled upon the movie on Pluto tv yesterday. I ended up sitting through most of it. Good fun.
Roger Moore was pretty cool. Loved his Mom having a dig at him:

Mom Goldfarb:
Oh, what is there to understand? I’m looking at my son, Seymour Goldfarb, Jr., son of Seymour Goldfarb, God rest his soul, and heir to the Goldfarb Girdles fortune. And what is he doing? Walking around, acting like he was some goy movie star named Roger Moore.
