Might as well use them, they don’t carry over day to day. :+1:

Yes it’s what’s prompted my exploration and to buy his Mahler boxset which this is off.

I never saw Bernstein conduct, but I thought Bradley Cooper gave a credible performance as the egocentric LB.

I must admit, I didn’t enjoy the film as much as I thought I would, primarily because Bernstein’s character wasn’t particularly ‘likeable’ in the film. I found it difficult to ‘connect’ with?

But the music was great. The finale to Mahler’s second performed by the LSO gave me goosebumps.

There was no doubting his talent. My favourite, probably definitive version of Mahler’s ninth is his live recording with the BPO:

I think the story goes that even Karajan was in-awe of this reading!

From DG themselves:

Karajan’s Magic Flute, recorded in 1980, became the first release of a Deutsche Grammophon digital production and was first released on LP.

Carrying on with Neil young. Now is in the company of CSN with the incomparable Deja Vu.
I do put the csn debut above this but only just.
Prior to this I played some live rust with cortez the killer and like a hurricane.
I only saw Neil once. It was with CH and they were so good. No acoustic that night. Just hard rocking all night.

Such a great album. Crammed full of gems.
Few bands have ever as pleasing than Supertramp.
Think I’ll play this album after CSNY has finished.
Thanks for the reminder

Tinnitus springs to mind, I put up with that but then his (in my opinion) superficial whining about music when he had already made his money pi55ed me totally off.

Bit of an acquired taste, bit like Bob Dylan. When I first heard him in the ‘70’s was not keen but a cousin of mine was into him, by osmosis he grew on me.

I could suffer his music - it’s his latter attitude that finished me off.
