I’m doing Supertramp now.
Wonderful album
Hissing of summer lawns is crying out to be heard now
Finishing this session with breakfast in America. Just a perfect album.
Maybe take the long way home is my favourite track. I love the aching harp intro.
If only goodbye stranger didn’t fade out.
Then I have to figure out what to do in Starfield. If I can’t then I’ll play golf (not outside)
Only 5 minutes…
I get my Joni with the Pat Metheny group in one, Jaco included.
And the late great Lyle Mays as well.
Imagine only having the same number of on Venus with a 5832 hour day.
19 hours left.
Just Qobuz 24/192, such a good live recording for the time frame. I bet the vinyl is spectacular as well. I love the fact that Joni lets everyone in the band some room to get their chops in.
I agree we found it hard to connect with it. But it had great visual flair but it didn’t stay on one bit for long whirls through things. Felt like it had been edited quite heavily.
I would be interested to see a biopic on Karajan. But I suspect, if it was even semi-accurate, you’d finish the film hating him!
Rod, I don’t know if you would agree that many what should have been great live performances were badly recorded in what would be seen as an afterthought unfortunately. YES - Yessongs is one of my disappointments, I have the original vinyl, CD, and the HDtracks supposed 24/192 remastered? All equally poorly done. Just one that stands out for me. I don’t think Steven Wilson could improve what is just a horrible recording job.
I think it’s like that for most biopics. Flawed geniuses make more interesting stories.
Hence why we’ve already had two mainstream films about Steve Jobs!
I found ‘Tar’ watchable. Another ‘flawed genius’ character. The plot took a disappointing ‘turn’ towards the end, and some scenes were just incredulous. But watchable nevertheless.
