Let's talk (show) guitars and gear

The last pair have come from PRS Facebook groups.

Was not aware of the group. Would never join a group that would have me as a member. Thank you for the information. You have quite a collection and every changing. Very cool.

There are quite a number of PRS groups, even one solely dedicated to Private Stock only PRS!
Yes I am a member…lol

I am of mixed feelings about Private Stock. It would make its own sub-forum. I see them as works of art, but one must accept that there is no inherent appreciation. You like it, you design it, you buy it, and you are proud of it. Not likely wise to think of one as an investment. I do not own one.

Absolutely the reverse of an investment.
Average cost of a PS build is around $12k.
Maybe squeak in at $10500 for very basic and the sky’s the limit ( or your bank account is).

And those $10 to $12k builds can be bought used for $6k.
So yes a pretty poor investment! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Contrary point: many pleaurable things do not bring financial return, but if they bring happiness…Private Stock surely are works of art.

For some of us, getting rid of stuff brings more happiness than owning it. :clinking_beer_mugs: Probably an age related perspective (77).

At 78 I fully concur with that sentiment :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

There is a video about a small boutique amp that a guy would not let others touch because his little kids put stickers on it, and he treasures it as a memory.

I posted this before, but I have a Strat that has the same meaning.

Its been pretty quiet around these parts. I’m not ready to reveal my fall project just yet but here is a teaser. Any guesses?

Didn’t somebody buy themselves a new axe for the holidays? Show and tell time, lets go. I’m growing weary of @AceRimmer ’ s motorcycles and poor food choices

Actually a good time to buy, but not sell, guitars. Prices are way down. Indeed, it is a very good time to buy many things.

I believe I sold my 911 at the right time, I got a very fair price for it imho from our local main Porsche dealer in cash!
It is definitely a buyers market right now more than ever.
I am having to stop myself from buying a Suhr, which is another axe I have had a hankering for.

Did I tell you this? Back when I was heavily buying PRS from Washington Music across the river from PRS, the salesman (great guy) offered me Mark Knopfler’s Pensa Suhr. He wanted $7k as I recall, but I had just purchased yet another PRS Dragon. The Pensa Suhr was/is a very cool guitar. Yes, this is the time to sell cars, not necessarily to buy them. Dealers are asking ~$70k above MSRP for a Corvette ZR1x. Strikes me as a very poor investment, but if you think $360k for a Corvette is okay, I am sure you would enjoy it. Back to guitars… PRS SE models are really at a great price. Even the Core models are being discounted.

Missed this…all out of guess work, I could cheat and use Google Lens but that’s no fun!
Any more clues or are you ready for the big reveal

Watch this space as I found that I couldn’t stop myself from buying a Suhr.

I’m putting clear on it this week…hopefully.

I’ll narrow it down to orange sparkle with black stripes. It’s my concoction so don’t expect too much.

Feel free to guess!
