Listen Later 🕐 Feedback Thread

Cheers that worked.

Though I am having more issues with deleted items not going after the reboot. Im sure this will be fixed in the next update.

I cant reboot every time i remove an item, that will start to get annoying quickly.

That is truly a great addition, thanks.

I tested it with albums, titles and compositions. I think that it would be an even better experience if compositions would be summarized and not treated as single tracks.

Nice addition, though I already had my own Listen later tag with a bookmark performing the same function. But I like the customizing option to auto remove items from LL based on % played! Suggestions for improvement:

  • This may already be on the roadmap, but LL currently lacks the “Focus”, “Tag” and “Sort by” functionality that “My Albums” has. For example, I have a long LL list (hundreds of albums) and I generally like to go through them chronologically, or be able to focus on a certain genre.
  • Perhaps create tabs to be able to display LL composers, tracks, albums, etc. in separate lists?

Keep up the good work!

Hang on. Am I missing something. When I play something from the LL queue, the existing queue is destroyed. Is this configurable?

Yes this is happening for me also.

The graphic is showing the albums that are in my Roon listen later list but only albums added in Arc are showing up in Arc.

Restarting the Roon server seems to clear the listen later list on Arc.

However, I use tag “evaluate” since quite a while. Works just fine. Wonder if the whole “listen later” project was waste of resources that could have been deployed better elsewhere in roon.

Its a small update but one I value a great deal, I didn’t know I wanted it until I was shown.

My library clutter has been taken out and is visible. I can see what needs an audition and what belongs in my collection easily without needing to make my own system.

You cant tag material not in your library this allow you to mark up albums in streaming services to listen to later without adding them needlessly, handy on new release day to just mark the ones your interested in listening to and come to them when I have the time.

Hi @mike I seem to have found a bug, which maybe another user may also have found as I vaguely remember reading it somewhere else.

I added the Gravity E.P. by Lacuna Coil to my listen later and then instead of pressing add to Queue I added it to my library and now it will get mark as played even though I have played it 3 times. I removed it from my library before it was even finished playing.

Are you aware of this bug?

You can’t tag albums not in your library, the LL solution is much more smooth and you can save albums outside your library. And then decide to include later if album was good.

I completely disagree. This is a great feature because I don’t need to add streaming media or temporary releases to my library. Tagging only works for library items.

Now, instead of a playlist, I add to LL for critical review (not played), and then either remove or hold until I buy (played).

Is there a way to preserve the existing (main) queue? When I play something from the (LL) queue it destroys the (main) queue.

No, I think queue handling is the same, i.e., the default (and only) play action is destructive. I agree with others that there should be play actions for LL. IMO, should have been implemented with this release.

For now, a workaround is to transfer the queue to a “dummy” device. I enable an unused HDMI port for this purpose, and label as such.

@mjw , I don’t believe most understand the greatest benefit of LL is that we DON’T have to “Add to Library” to build a list.

As for positives, I’m thrilled to see it’s not shared across Profiles (like many Roon features are). A few missteps that can be corrected, but overall, LL is an excellent feature. The best I’ve seen in a long time.

I hadn’t spotted this, and this is really helpful. I curate music for my wife’s running sessions, and it will be much easier to do this with LL whilst keeping unwanted stuff out of my library.

I’m not getting the point of LL. Isn’t everything in the main queue already by definition items to be listened to later? Many of these items I haven’t listened to before. I don’t have to add Qobuz items to my queue to listen to them. As long as search can find them I just add them “next” or “queue” them non-destructively and if I like, I then add to my library.

If you enable multiple selection, there are options to add to queue or add next

How do you enable all those options? I cannot see an option in “Play Actions” for Listen Later. I don’t get all the options you get:

Listen Later, I just stumbled on it today after an update. I abolsutely love it, what a great idea and a “killer feature”! I’ve started using it already.

In Play Actions I have always activated everything. So I imagine that one of those functions also acts on the LL section
