Describe the issue

Hi,

I don't even know where to begin. I'm really experienced with computers and I've tried everything I could think of. So, I can't log in. I normally use a VPN and uBlock with strict settings, but logging in doesn't work even without them enabled. For this message, I installed Brave, and I have no issues logging in with it. I'm requesting that you implement some 'confirm you're not a robot' CAPTCHA for logging in, or alternatively, remove Google's 'helpful' one that blocks everything if you try to avoid it to the very end...

Regards,

Erik

Hey @erekola,

This behavior is often caused by browser or network settings interfering with the login process. Please follow the steps below:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

1. Clear Safari’s Cache and History (iOS)

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Scroll down and tap Safari.
  • Tap Clear History and Website Data to remove cached files and cookies.

2. Adjust Safari Privacy Settings (iOS)

  • Go to Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security.
  • Make sure the following settings are disabled:
  • Block All Cookies
  • Prevent Cross-Site Tracking

3. Clear Chrome’s Cache and Cookies (Android)

  • Open the Chrome app.
  • Tap the three dots menu (top-right corner) and select Settings.
  • Tap Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
  • Choose Cookies and site data and Cached images and files, then tap Clear data.

4. Adjust Chrome Site Settings (Android)

  • In Chrome, tap Settings > Site Settings.
  • Make sure that:
  • Cookies are allowed.
  • JavaScript is allowed.
  • Pop-ups and redirects are allowed (temporarily if needed for login).

5. Switch Networks (iOS and Android)

  • If you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network, switch to cellular data.
  • If you’re on cellular data, connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  • This can reset the DNS path and resolve login issues.

6. Verify Date and Time Settings (iOS and Android)

  • Go to Settings > General Management > Date and Time (Android) or Settings > General > Date & Time (iOS).
  • Ensure Set Automatically or Use Network-Provided Time is enabled.

7. Try Logging in via Web (iOS and Android)

  • Open Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android).
  • Navigate to account.roonlabs.com and try logging in.
  • This helps verify your account works outside the app.

8. Clear Roon Account Session History (iOS and Android)

  • While logged in at account.roonlabs.com, navigate to your session history.
  • Remove any outdated or unnecessary sessions that might interfere with new logins.

9. If Using Opera Browser (iOS or Android): Disable Content Blocking

  • Tap the browser’s menu while on the Roon login page.
  • Look for the content blocking or privacy settings.
  • Disable content blocking specifically for this page.

Reinstall the App (if needed)

For iOS:

  • Delete the Roon app from your device.
  • Restart the device.
  • Reinstall the app from the App Store.
  • Attempt to log in again.

For Android:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Roon.
  • Tap Uninstall.
  • Restart the device.
  • Reinstall Roon from the Google Play Store.
  • Attempt to log in again.

Let me know if any of the above help! :+1:

Firefox! And I have tried everything.

It really shouldn’t be that if I want to protect my data privacy and stay away from Google, I’m prevented from using the service. Especially when 20 other sites always work without a hitch.

I have no problems with Firefox.

Maybe try the following;

The problem, of course, isn’t with the standard settings. It’s that the captcha is designed so that if Google can’t identify you, you won’t be able to log in. Please switch to Cloudflare, and the Silk extension will handle the captcha.

Even though the site has no ads, it does have tracking. I’m already paying a hefty price to use it, so blocking all tracking shouldn’t prevent me from accessing the site…

I found that disabling Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox will let you login. Which begs the question, why is a captcha tracking us? Plenty enough websites where captcha is in place and we can still happily login.

I’m certainly not turning anything off. CAPTCHA is fine, of course, as long as Google doesn’t block you from logging in with it. That’s why I asked to switch to Cloudflare, because the other 20 forums work without any problems…

I’m also not a big fan. That said, right now that seems like your only option.

I guess that implies you won’t be using Roon anytime soon…

I’m not stopping usage. I just wanted to wake people up. Now Brave also blocked the login. The picture shows the trackers on the login page. Isn’t that quite a lot of Google?

Hi @erekola,

I’d suggest sharing youre feedback/requests over in our Feedback Suggestion category: https://community.roonlabs.com/c/feedback/feature-suggestions/12

That way, it’ll be properly reviewed by our team for further analysis. Outside of that, let me know if disabling Enhanced Tracking Protection helps. :+1:

It doesn’t depend on that for me but on uBlock Origin, though I can log in as long as I disable it temporarily. So I can live with this, even though I try to avoid Google like the plague…
