Describe the issue

When I try to connect from the roon App I get an online webpage asking me to choose my account. When I choose it I am taken to a login page in the App. When I click on login I am taken back to the same webpage to choose my account. It is a loop.

Describe your network setup

I do not have this information, but the network is provided by vodafone and generally works well.

I’m not Roon support however, below is the typical response to this issue… it’s worth giving it a go whilst waiting for Roon support to get back to you.

Hope it helps …

If the trouble is logging into the Roon software, it is worth noting that the process involves logging in via a web browser. The pop-up might be blocked by the default browser, depending on your settings. In that case, there are a few things that can help:

  • Rebooting your Roon Server

  • Clearing the default browser’s cache and cookies

  • Temporarily changing your default browser

  • Checking to ensure that you don’t have popup or cookie blockers preventing the redirect

Hi @Amr_El-Hitami,

iOS relies on Safari by default for login popups, and if you have any third-party content blockers installed, they’ll intercept the redirect back to the Roon app.

This can cause the exact scenario you’re describing. Try opening your Safari Settings and disabling content blockers on the affected phone/tablet.

Let us know if this helps.

Thank you!

Thanks @connor

I turned off the content blocker for roon account as well as allowed pop-up windows. No change. Interestingly i installed roon on my Windows PC and it runs without a problem although both computers have McAfee installed on them. ( I did turn off McAfee firewall on the Mac while testing)

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hi @Amr_El-Hitami,

Thank you for the update — that’s actually very helpful! The fact that it works on your Windows PC (also with McAfee) tells us this is likely something specific to the Mac’s browser configuration rather than your account or network.

Here are a few more things to try:

  1. Try a different browser — open Chrome or Firefox and set it as your default browser temporarily, then try logging into Roon again.

  2. Try an incognito / private window — open Safari’s private browsing mode (or Chrome incognito) and attempt the login from there. This bypasses extensions and cached data entirely.

  3. Clear Safari’s cookies and cache — go to Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, search for “roon” and "
    http://account.roon.app
" and remove those entries, then try again.

  4. Check macOS Keychain — sometimes a stale or corrupted saved credential in Keychain Access can cause redirect loops. Search for “roon” in Keychain Access and delete any entries, then retry.

  1. Please try the following steps:
    1. Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
    2. Make sure Roon and Roon Server are both enabled
    3. Even if they are already enabled, please toggle them off and back on
    4. Fully quit Roon Server from the macOS menu bar / task bar
    5. Reboot your Mac 6. After reboot, launch Roon again and check if the devices is avaliable again.
Please let us know which of these makes a difference — and if none do, share what version of macOS you're running so we can dig deeper.

Thank you for your patience!

Hi @Amr_El-Hitami,

Our diagnostic servers don’t show a recent login and we haven’t seen any posts here. Have you been able to try the steps shared in the post above?

Try disabling adblockers/content blockers in Safari first.
