Long delays (up to 10 - 30 seconds) for loading albums or start playing tracks (both local and Qobuz)

Having the same issues here over the last couple of years, running a Nucleus Plus with some modifications to avoid those problems. The last couple of weeks it became that extreme that I played music by TIDAL or Qobuz Connect over my Wadax Audio Player. First of all a perfect quality, even higher as playing the same files with Roon but instantly playing  No delays or ignorante behavior. Now the strange thing happend yesterday morning. Roon, with the same libery, setup etc. was playing without any delay all morning. Whatever I tried, all worked fine :folded_hands:

Unfortunately today Roon was back to basic and long delays started again.

Not able to explain this behavior……

Sorry, Wadax Studio Player :joy::joy:

I am experiencing the same issue. It’s the worst it has been in a long time. Restarting Roon Server fixes the issue temporarily.

Can you comment on the database corruption issue? Why does it occur, and is there not a way for Roon to self-correct?

As I’ve said elsewhere, this seems pretty significant, esp. given the number of people experiencing similar issues, and experiencing the same drastic improvement with a ā€œfreshā€ database (either new or restored from back-up).

From December, 2023, until the last 2-4 weeks, my ROON ROCK NUC has been fast and rock solid (no pun)!

Now, I’m having problems similar to all of those mentioned above. I too re-booted Roon and all was back to normal for a time, but then, the delays returned etc..

I’m running the latest version of Roon ROCK on the following hardware:

Intel NUC 11 NUC11PAHi7; SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 500GB; Kingston FURY 32GB; Seagate 24TB external recently acquired last December.

It’s taking Roon 20-30 seconds to load. It’s also taking significantly longer to search and to display the results when an album is selected. I do have a large library with >200K Flac tracks. However, the library hasn’t grown and previously Roon’s loading and other functions were timely with none of the current problems.

Same with me, using Tidal. Have a Nucleus Rev B it’s almost unplayable taking so long.

I’m in Canada

Not sure ā€œcreating a new databaseā€ in a valid response from Roon, considering it seems many peoples were working and now suddenly not (i.e its something in Roon, not something that the user is doing) - I have spend a lot of time tagging my music - C’mon Roon tell us what is going on and release a fix!!!

I agree. Asking users to go through ā€œcreating a new databaseā€ might be acceptable to help with diagnostics, but it is not acceptable as a suggested solution.

I won’t say my database I complex like probably some others. But I’ve made some playlists, tagged some music and some stuff like that. Starting all over is no fun.

Having the same issue. Using a ~1 year old NUC I7-13 and memory.

Having also the same issues

I have a Nuc I7

Same issues here.. i5, 16gb, ram, ssd.. should be fine, but 30-60 sec load times. Have seen the possible restore database fix.. but can’t be bothered. Switching to just Tidal and hope for a fix in the future.

Got an update a little while ago. Let’s see if it does the trick.

Hopefully the just annoucned update coming on April 20, 2026 has a major impact on stability: Important: Roon Minimum System Requirements Are Changing on April 20, 2026

Hello @Gerard_Burgstede ,

We are investigating your problem and would like to ask you.

When you reboot the machine, does it temporary resolve the issue ?

Thanks.

Hi @alex_h thanks for getting back. Yes, reboot or restart Roon Server temporarily resolves the issue. I updated to build 1646 a few days ago.

Update: I reset my database, and started fresh. For a while, Roon was great again. But the slowness soon returned. I rebooted my NUC and performance was fine again - but after only a week, that shouldn’t be necessary.

So I opened yet another trouble ticket, and the response: ā€œIf rebooting your Core temporarily fixes the problem, it sounds like a known issue we’re actively trying to fix. There is nothing else for you to do for now, except do a daily reboot of your server.ā€

Unbelievable. I’ve reset my database and now I must reboot my Core every day? Roon, you can see this is a common (and MAJOR) problem - I honestly hope a fix is coming and you’ll be transparent about the problem.

So it’s a known issue, for at least two months, still need to wait till 20th?!

At least give us a new option in settings: ā€œRestart server between tracks: Yes/Noā€ . It could work for shorter tracks.

There was an update to my core 2 days ago and it has been working as it should so far.

Over here too
