Looking for a nearfield-monitor

Well, close filed monitors, that’s very personal. Some good suggestions already posted. However I would recommend considering also something like Ls3/5a monitors. I personally looked for a new set of monitors and ended buying secondhand pair of Rogers manufactured in 1981. They sound fabulous.

Trivial correction: Genelec is Finnish.

For near field desk top listening I prefer an AMT tweeter based speaker. I use the Kanto Tuk. Check them out TUK Premium Powered Speakers | Kanto Audio

I use Harbeths P3ESR in my office. Warm and musical.

curious — with a -3dB of 75 Hz, do you use a sub? or does it not matter much nearfield?

I am very happy with my Acoustic Energy AE1 active set. Sounds great with NF but also for longer distances. Give it a try.

I have a pair of these. 1st gen though and very happy with them. Using them on my desk in my man cave. They produce the sound coming from my WiiM Ultra and FIIO K11 R2R combination.

Been using a pair of Elac Navis ARB51 speakers for many years and found them very good. Not sure if there are still available but well worth a good, even secondhand.

Love my KEF LSX’s. They are however quite sensitive to how they are positioned. I found that they worked best without any toe in and about 10cm away from the rear wall. Set up they are extremely accurate and provide a sound equivalent to speakers many times larger. I don’t feel the need for a sub but I know many do.

The Genelecs look like a great choice for your space, as long as you like their sound signature. Fine for listening, but if you’re mixing original music, be cautious & check the mixes on several other systems. As for a sub, if you’re demo’ing check out REL.

Mini Maggies with their flat sub under the desk would be my choice.

looks interesting, but not to find in germany…

Another option would be these: A4V Nearfield Monitor | ADAM Audio Shop
I’d say they have a more “natural” sound than the Genelecs, with easily tailored settings.
Worth an audition if you can find them. Currently 10% off from Adam, FWIW.

Harbeth p3esr-xd for the win. Best investment I ever made to flank my monitor. Wish I had the room to put them on stands but they are magic.

will keep the GENELECS without sub, it´s too big for my small room

Great little set up

I bought some Adam F5 speakers 5+ years ago, and stuck them on my desk. Found Roon, redid my whole house with various bits of kit, some quite end stuff (well, for me, like NAD M66/M23). The only thing I have not changed or updated is the Adams. I did put them on some isoAcoutis stand, but thats about it.

Hi, LS3/5 (old or modern licensed versions) are also my favoutite.
But they are quite expensive and need a good amp because they are passive.

Modern studio (near field) monitors are active. Even the BBC embraced active monitors many years ago (check this article: BBC Chooses AIR and BM Monitors by Ear).
