Looking for a nearfield-monitor

I’ve been using a pair of Audience Clairaudient 1+1 V5 speakers in my nearfield setup for about 4 years now and I couldn’t be happier with them.

Quoting myself I know us weird, but I did add a rel T-zero mini sub under my desk, and now the Harbeth are even better, if that were possible. I keep the sub turned way down low and barely noticeable but it is worth it for a lot of these beautiful Brit boxes to fill in a little of the low end, unless you’re just listening to string quartets.

Hi,

What you are doing is not weird at all. In my home office I use a set of Ruark Audio MR1 MK2, but with a Monitor Audio 10" sub. It is also at a very low setting and in “music mode” where it does not impact like you need for movies/games. The combination sounds perfect. Visitors are amazed how low the very small Ruarks can go

Ditto, @NipperDog I have the V3’s for about 6 yrs and have recently upgraded them to the V5 which is about 1yr old, and features several improvements. These are amazing full range, bi-pole speakers, I use them with a REL sub as near field monitors, but they can easily fill a room.

Congrats Mark! What was involved in upgrading them? Is it something we do ourselves or do they need to be shipped back to Audience?

They need to be shipped back. your dealer can do this or you can manage yourself, its explained on the Audience website. enjoy!

They look very good, and the technology also seems excellent. Please note that my room is only 2x3m. From what I’ve read, the speakers should be placed at least 1.5m from the wall…
After reading all the reviews, I’m leaning toward adding a KEF KC62 to my Genelec 8320A (which I´m happy with!)…

If your room is that small, you owe it to yourself to give them a listen. My room is also very small, but so are these speakers. They’re about the size of your head.
