Looking for advice on a surround solution with wireless rear speakers

This is NOT a purely Roon related topic - however I’m looking for advice on building a X.1 (X≥5) surround system that integrates wireless speakers except for the front (front, center, sub).

  • as for the front speakers, I want run my Dynaudio Confidence 20 over my Hegel H590, i.e the AV Receiver (AVR) must have a pre-out for the front speakers. The Hegel will also be the Roon endpoint, the AVR is only for TV/DVD.
  • as for the subwoofer, I have an active T+A TCD 610 W SE that I want to integrate, which shouldn’t be an issue. It will be connected to the AVR, not the Hegel, as I don’t really need it for stereo.
  • as for the center speaker, I want to use a passive T+A TCD 510 C because it’s affordable, cat-proof and visually complements the 610 W.
  • as for the two surround (and potentially any other additional) speakers, they should be wireless and therefore active. I don’t really care if they connect via Heos, BluOS, Music Cast, Bluetooth, Wifi, whatever. They should be small and in the 500 €/$/£ range (per piece).

The AVR should state of the art and feature HDMI 2.1 and not exceed 2k €/$/£. AV processor plus power amplifier for the center speaker would be OK.

I’m looking forward to hear from one or more experts.

I would purchase a new receiver that supports wired and wireless surround sound speakers. Use your old stuff elsewhere or sell it.

My question would be which one supports mixed wired and wireless speakers for surround.

I googled that and found quite a lot.

So did I and found a confusing mix of multiroom and surround with no clear indication of what combination of I/O would work.

I’m looking for a tried and tested solution.

Sadly I don’t think there is. Best I found was a 500 usd Yamaha on amazon that you needed to use their wireless rears to do 5.1. But lots of complaints about earc issues.
