I’ve seen earlier posts that indicated this was not possible but just wondering if Roon has since come up with a process for creating loops within a song.

No. There is a feature request here where you can be the first one to vote
AB comparing of settings for DSP filters, eq, upsampling would be more efficient with a loop of some seconds within a track.
I know there’s a loop toggle, but as far as I can see only for track and queue.
