Please install the latest Roon update on your Mac mini, then recheck the Local Network permissions for both Roon and RoonServer. Since you have already restarted the Mac mini, Roon, and your network access settings, this is the next thing we want to verify as we have just released a new Roon Update.
Please let us know once that is done, and we will take it from there.
Our diagnostics servers show that a Naim Uniti synced with your Roon server as an endpoint since you last posted. Are we correct that you resolved this with another Local Network permissions toggle in the OS security settings?
Let us know if you’re still having issues. Thank you!
Thanks for your help. I toggled off and on the Local Network permission again and it worked. I then restarted the Mac mini which seemed to bring back the problem. After another toggling of the permission (without restarting the Mac mini) solved the problem.
Thank you for following up and confirming that toggling the Local Network permissions temporarily restores your zones.
The behavior you are experiencing—where the permission needs to be toggled off and on again after restarting the Mac mini—is unfortunately a known quirk within recent versions of macOS. Apple’s privacy and security framework strictly controls these network access rights at the system level. Because this is an operating system limitation, Roon currently has no way to bypass it or force macOS to permanently remember the permission state across reboots.
Until Apple addresses this permission persistence in a future macOS update, the most reliable workaround is exactly what you discovered: quickly toggling the Local Network access off and on after restarting your Mac mini.
We apologize for the inconvenience this extra step causes, but we are glad you are back up and running for now. Please let us know if you run into any other trouble!
