Loud pop between tracks during Tidal/Qobuz streaming (ref#P7PTH1)

What’s happening?

· Other – My issue isn’t listed above

Describe the issue

Loud pop in between track while streaming tidal or Qobuz

Describe your network setup

Titan nucleus
Naim ND5 xs2 streamer
Linn Amp
Tidal and Qobuz service
Ubiquiti hard wired network
With all Ubiquiti equipment

I have a new set up in a new home
Nucleus Titan
Naim ND5 XS2 streamer wired to
Linn Amp
Ubiquiti wired Network
Tidal and Quboz streaming

Each time a new track starts an loud pop sound
Very annoying

Try the Resync Delay

Strange because I have an NDX-2 (which uses the same streaming board) and the Roon Ready implementation is flawless, and that’s also the common opinion on the Naim forum. Increasing the resync delay may help but it shouldn’t be necessary.

Did you try a different input on the amp?

I’d open a ticket with Roon support. Click here → Support and then Get Help. (Edit: I see you already did)

Or contact Naim support via the form here:

I see you have started this support thread as well, only one thread is required per problem, more just confuses and dilutes the responses so I will merge and close the other one.

Hello @laszlo_fuzesi,

Thank you for reaching out and for providing the details of your setup.

Have you had a chance to try adjusting the Resync Delay setting as suggested above? Did it help reduce or eliminate the loud pop between tracks?

This will help us narrow down the next steps.

I have
It seems to pop then silence with set delay then music

Hi @laszlo_fuzesi,

Can you be more specific around the relay sync settings you tested?

Does this happen with local tracks as well?

The loud “pop” often comes from DACs or streamers when the sample rate changes between tracks.

  • Tidal and Qobuz vary between 44.1, 48, 96, etc.
  • In Roon DSP settings, enable “Sample Rate Conversion” to force everything to a fixed rate (e.g., 192kHz or 96kHz) and test if pops disappear.
  • Alternatively, try setting it to “Max PCM rate (power of 2)” and see if the transitions are cleaner.
Test Resync Delay Again - In Roon Device Setup for the ND5 XS2, increase Resync Delay more aggressively (e.g., 500ms → 2000ms). Sometimes very short values don’t give the DAC enough time to mute before a sample rate switch.

Let me know if any of the above help, thank you! :folded_hands:

I’ve never heard this happening with Naim gear, though, neither my own NDX-2 nor mentioned by others (in a long time on the Naim forum)

This is at my lake house will visit next week and update thank you for your thoughts

Sounds good @laszlo_fuzesi we’ll be monitoring for your reply and results!:raising_hands:

I was at the house the biggest pop was at start of of first stream
Did do the adjustments and seemed to help not totally disappear
I set rate to full 345hz
Max rate 32
Delay 1500 ms

Good day @laszlo_fuzesi !

Thanks for confirming that!

As some of the other people stated it is not likely for your DAC to have such a problem.

That being said we would like to narrow down the scope of the problem.

Would that be possible for you to try to play the music to it from a different player (For example directly from Tidal) and let us know whether this problem still happens ?

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards.
