Lumin Firmware 19.0

I’ve upgraded my X1 but my T3x seems not to want to upgrade. I confirmed the upgrade but nothing happens on the app and the firmware still shows 18.0

Please power off the unit. Wait for at least a few seconds, then turn it back on.

In Lumin app, after selecting T3X, if it does not prompt for update, please set Check for Firmware Updates to Off, then On.

Lastly, I can send you instructions for a manual update if needed.

Hi all,
I have a Lumin U1 mini which has work fine with Tidal Connect sinced subscribing. But the latest updates to the Tidal app on Android and I get continuous connection breakage to my sacd player/DAC. Firmware was on 19.0c when connection issues started so I updated to 19.1 due to the recent changes but the error continues.
I tried clearing Tidal cache, powered down and restarted U1 mini but not change. Any pointers?
Thanks,
Andrew

Please power down the Lumin and DAC. Disconnect them.

Power cycle the router, WiFi mesh, network switches and the rest of the network infrastructure, etc. Wait for 5 minutes.

Power up the Lumin. After the progress circle shows up on the front panel, power up the DAC, switch the DAC input as required, and reconnect it to Lumin.

Peter,
Thank you for the quick reply. I have powered cycle all the devices before and just powered cycled again but get the same issue. Some additional items which may help. I am on 5G sim router but have not experienced any issues prior to the recent Tidal CDN/firmware upgrade. I also find that preloading a track takes much longer than before, even with downloaded tracks that exist on my mobile/ipad. No problem playing tracks via minimserver or when streaming via Tidal to my devices, except via Tidal Connect and also on Tidal via the Lumin app.
Thanks.

In Lumin app About U1 Mini, please try a different setting for Google DNS.

Please try internet radio such as Radio Paradise, and Spotify Connect (create a Spotify Free account). See if they work normally.

Peter,
I turned off Google DNS on the app so that it was using the router IP address as the DNS. There was a Lumin app update today which I updated but it did not make any difference. Both internet radio and Spotify had no problem streaming and would play in a few seconds of selecting the radio channel or a track in Spotify. Tidal continue to show problems with taking a long time before a track would start and would randomly stop playing on 16/44 or high res. Thanks.

Tidal has recently changed their CDN, if both DNS settings do not work well for you, then it’s time to try Qobuz if it’s available in your country.

As I have stated, Tidal streams without issues when directly on my mobile phone, ipad or PC which does not indicate a cause with CDN . The issue arises when I use either the Tidal app with Tidal Connect to the U1 mini or Tidal via the Lumin app. I am based in Hong Kong and have not had any issues using Tidal prior to the recent changes.

I believe Tidal has different CDN for their own apps and third parties.

For the purpose of Tidal playback, Hong Kong Broadband (1000M) works in both our Hong Kong office and my home.

You may also try Roon or Audirvana, let me know if you need a trial code for either or both of them.

If nothing works, you may try a different SIM provider, but preferably use fiber broadband.

Thank you for all your suggestions. One thing I did notice from testing during the short time available in the mornings was that streaming was possible without any stoppages so it seems network throughput may be at issue here. What I can’t figure out is why even downloaded tracks that are on my devices or online tracks work prior to the Tidal CDN/firmware update fail to stream when via Tidal connect at slightly lower evening speeds of around 150Mbps. The network speed with 5G at that speed is more than enough to stream 16/44. I’m afraid I am unable to get 1000M broadband where I located.

For anyone who are experiencing similar problems, hope this helps. I am able to stream Tidal via the Lumin app, but cannot via Tidal’s Tidal Connect which seems to be broken on my last few updates. This may be Android related but I am now streaming at 24/96 without issues. Peter, thank you again for your help.

Lumin Tidal Connect implementation has not been changed since September 2024.

I got a message for my U1 Mini that a new firmware is available (19.1), it downloaded, but it never installed. It’s still on 19.0.
I tried everything, restarted the Lumin, dis- and reenabled “Check for Updates”, switched to Google DNS etc. Nothing works. It won’t install.
Besides that, the U2 Mini works flawless and no need to panic, I’d just want to ensure that updates will work in the future. Thanks for any support.

Sent you a manual firmware upgrade.
