Lumin V14 Firmware

Got the message to have 14 available, started the update but now get an error of a missing “E:” drive/file? It’s a D2.

Any info? Thanks, René

Please remove any USB drive you have plugged into the D2. Check the USB drive for any .upgs and .upg files. Delete them all.

Power cycle the D2.

Hi Peter, no USB connected. Eventually, today, I received the update notice again ad it completed successfully? So I’m OK for the moment. Don’t understand why it would ‘react’ to a possible connected USB drive as one hasn’t been connected for 2 years. Thanks for your quick response, great customer service as always!! Cheers, Rene

If you did not have a USB drive connected, then the internal firmware download was corrupted.

Hi Peter,

otherwise I just read here, but today I have to write something. I am very satisfied with my U1 Mini and have not had any problems so far. But now after the update to V14 the U1 sometimes stops. I only use it in Roon and only play from the hard drive in the Rock Server. Converter is built into the Aavik 150. Connection via USB. As I said, never had any problems with. I reset the U1 and turned it off and on. Without success. Only when I restart the Aavik does music come back.

What can I do?

Thank you and best regards

(sorry for my bad english)

Maybe some informations

Best regards
Angelo

Please power down both the Lumin and the DAC. Disconnect the USB cable. Power up both. Switch the DAC to USB input. After the Lumin shows the progress circle in the front panel, then reconnect the USB cable.

will do
Many thanks Peter!

Hi Peter,

have to apologize. The U1Mini doesn’t seem to be the problem, but the hard drive maybe. I once attached an excerpt from the server log file. It says something about slow media and then failures (drop outs) What do you mean?
Thank you and best regards
Angelo

If your Roon Core is not ROCK, please find a free SMART HDD report tool, run it, and post the detailed SMART report, I need the raw values.

If you are using ROCK, and the drive is a USB HDD, please plug the USB HDD to a Windows computer and generate the SMART HDD report.

Please describe your network in detail, how everything are connected together, and what brand and model of router / access point / switches are used.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
It is a Rock, but made by myself. Asus P10m-ws mainboard with Xeon . Jcat Net Card XE (best sound ever) Jcat USB Card. A WD 2TB hard drive is connected to the USB card. I have already had this checked. I cleaned also the USB cable on the plugs with alcohol.
Switch is a Sotm. The server and the U1Mini are connected to it. Also a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X SFP for DHCP. SFP goes to the internet.
If the problem occurs I can still access the browser page from the Rock Server and I can still access the U1 with the Lumin app. Everything is still there and accessible on the Roon app Ipad. No error message appears. Only the title timeline fluctuates quickly back and forth (like Night Rider Car  )

best regards
Angelo

Please tell me the brand and model of your boot SSD, where the Roon database resides.

I would still like to read the SMART report with raw values. I use my own interpretation of raw values.

Please confirm both the Asus and the Lumin are connected to the SOtM switch, not the EdgeRouter X.

Please power cycle everything, starting from the router and the switch.

Hi Peter,
sorry for my late reply. I first waited to see if the problem reappeared. Well not until now. (I’m on vacation and the system runs all day) In between a PC was set up as a NAS and if there is another interruption, I’ll use the NAS as a music supplier. Then I read out the USB disk and send you the smart data.
Thank you very much Peter and have a nice weekend!

Please tell me the brand and model of your boot SSD, where the Roon database resides.

it is a Samsung 970 evo Plus 256 GB

please don’t be scared
