M2 Mac Mini, WiiM Amp Pro, JBL L52 Classics, Bluesound Pulse Sub

Recent change with the integrated Amp; went from a Bluesound Powernode Edge to a WiiM Amp Pro.

  • WiiM Amp Pro
  • M2 Mac Mini, base model, running lifetime Roon Core license, Samsung Pro Storage inside USB-C enclosure
  • Bluesound Pulse Sub
  • JBL L52 Classic Speakers with matching stands
  • Audioquest Speaker Cables, no plugs just wired straight
  • Mediabridge Sub Cable, 15ft
  • Audioquest Power Conditioner

Originally was using a Bluesound Integrated Device and learned a lot about tuning in Roon. It sounded good, but the change to the WiiM Amp Pro is almost twice what my 4ohm speakers can handle, but one doesn’t really need that much volume. The WiiM Amp Pro offers a dramatically improved experience.

Currently using Roon’s MUSE options for clipping indicator (which barely happens now) at 0db. Also using the Max PCM Rate, Power of 2, in the Sample Rate Conversion with Precise, Linear Phase. I like the edge it provides to some percussion and acoustic guitars.

On the Parametric EQ site, I’m using only WiiM’s recommended Room Correction Features and Settings. I’m no expert at Room Correction Technology, but ran it several times as I adjusted things. Think is sounds wonderful.

The subwoofer settings were a bit more complicated, a mix of both WiiM and Bluesound settings. The Bluesound App controls the volume, at -11db and maxed the Crossover. On the WiiM app, the sub level output is at 0db (no change), but it handles the crossover. The crossover is still something I’m tweaking but currently at 95Hz. It sounds great, but reveals the limitations. The Bluesound Sub works great, and sounds much better than it did before, but think it will be better suited for the Pulse Speaker it was originally paired to a couple years ago. The experience has helped me better understand what new sub to look for.

You can see my Sonos Beam II in the pic, it has a pair of Sonos One’s and a Mini Sub; it is TV only. To be honest, it helps me with Tuning my JBLs. If Sonos could do 192/24 FLAC it almost would be worth using for both music and TV. Can’t say if I’ll go to a singular speaker system for both music and TV in the future, but can now see what some enthusiasts do it.

I have the same JBL’s. I’ve placed them on the Dali stands that matched my previous speakers.

I don’t have to open up my Cambridge CXA81 more than 1/4 to get enough volume in my living room.

TV and BluRay run through my soundbar system.

CXN V2 → FIIO K11 R2R DAC → CXA81 amp → JBL L52 Classic speakers + JVC subwoofer. I also have a Bluesound Node X and a CXC V2 connected to the amplifier.

I love Cambridge Audio.
