Description Of Issue

IT ALL WORKS GREAT! 16/44 24/96 / MQA / Radio ALL EXCELLENT. But when switching to 24/192 (Miles Davis, Kinda Blue from HD-Tracks) the sound is no sound anymore. Hissing, dropouts, skips, you name it. I have copied the file to the internal memory (Samsung 860EVO) together with two more files (CD and 24/96). The latter two are fine, the 24/196 will not play properly. So I deleted and copied it once more, just to be shure. Did not help. When connecting the SOTM directly to Mytek (so skipping the M2Techs) all plays well meaning the file is not corrupted. I think it very strange. With or without the external clock did not make a difference. Do you have any suggestions what I could try?

Thank you for your help upfront!

Best regards, Ton

Direct connect it to the ROCK NUC, see if it makes any difference.

Hello wklie, thank you for your reply.

If I connect sotm to mytek direct (Audioquest coffe USB) there is no problem at all, 192/24 is running smoothly. I’m just puzzled by the fact that throught M2tech everything is fine until 24/192, 24/96 running great. I checked the UM and that states that M2tech supports Linux upto 192kHz.
I could agree to mikeb (dinosaur, like me) to just avoid these rates, really, 96/24 will give more than I will ever receive (dinosaur). On the other hand, M2, Mytek, Sotm and Roon all state to support 192/24. If it is there I would like to be able to use it. Otherwise, change the adverts. Am I wrong here?

So what’s the result of direct connecting the EVO2 to the NUC?

If both ROCK and SOtM behave similarly, ask M2Tech.
If ROCK works but SOtM does not with your M2Tech, ask SOtM.

Hello Peter, thank for your reply.

I have connected the NUC/ROCK direct to EVO2. That did not work, the EVO2 does not show up as an audiozone. Then I connected the NUC direct to Mytek: same story. I gues that is not too strange, neither are RoonReady or Roontested.
Previously I had my desktop PC (W10) installed as a RoonCore. I tried from there and get the exact same results. So, my conclusion is that M2Tech causes the “challenges”. I have sent them an email and will let you know once they respond.

Does it work or not? It should.

I expect the EVO2 to work on Windows. Have you used its latest Windows driver?

Hello Peter,

I have a little rouge blossom on my cheeks…being a newbie to Roon I had forgotten to enable the EVO and Mytek in the setting>audio>enable menu. After doing so they both showed up. The results however are identical to the situation with the SoTM in the set-up, so, all playing up to 24/96, Mytek direct up to 24/196.
As we speak I have the EVO2 connected to my desktop (to a Violectric DAC V850). Here the proper drivers have been installed but the results are once again the same so my original conclusion still stands. As promised I will let you know once M2Tech has responded. Oh, and I fixed Miles’ Kinda Blue: downloaded 24/96 from HDtracks…playing great of course!

You said you have an external clock connected? Try having it removed, and use it in the most basic configuration, on Windows.

Done that, only took the Hiface upstairs, results as reported. Seriously interested in M2Techs’ reply.
