· I have tried to download the app for my Mac book about 4-5 times now. I can sign into my account on line my next payment is May 7th for 14.99 which is fine and I’m paid for the next 39 days. But for some reason when I go to sign on and click the app I just get that symbol doing the thinking symbol and I get that every time all the time in fact I had it thinking from yesterday to today and still thinking sign. Meaning it won’t open. What do I do

· Regular router and modem worked fine before this mess with the payments

Hello @cartwright.matthew,

I’m sorry to hear you’re stuck looking at that pulsing “thinking” logo—that’s definitely not the welcome-back experience we want for you, especially when you’re all paid up and ready to listen.

To help us get the gears turning again, I’d like to dig a little deeper into the “backstory” here. Could you tell us a bit more about what was happening right before Roon stopped responding? Specifically:

  • You mentioned a “mess with the payments”—did that involve changing your email address, switching to a new Roon account, or perhaps moving your Roon Server to a different computer?
  • Is this MacBook intended to be your Roon Server (hosting the music), or is it just a Remote used to control a different device (like a Nucleus or another PC)?

While you get back to us, let’s try these “Quick Fixes”:

1. Refresh the “Handshake” Sometimes the Mac app gets stuck because it’s trying to find a “ghost” of an old account or server.

  • Quit Roon completely.
  • Open your Applications folder, find Roon, and try to launch it while holding down the Option (⌥) key on your keyboard. This can sometimes force a fresh login screen.

2. Check macOS Local Network Permissions Modern Macs are very protective of their network. If Roon doesn’t have “permission” to talk to your router, it will sit on that loading screen forever.

  • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
  • Make sure the toggle for Roon is turned ON.

Please let us know what happened during that payment transition—knowing if the account details changed will help us verify if the app is simply trying to log into a “deactivated” profile.

What happens if you try to open Roon while your MacBook is disconnected from the Wi-Fi? Does it still show the logo, or does it give you a “Network Error” message?
