Description of Issue

Connected my Beats Studio Headphones via Bluetooth to my iMac.
Roon still outputs audio to the build-in speaker.
Other software, e.g. VLC, Quicktime Player output to Bluetooth audio.

EDIT: This issue only occurs when using the “CoreAudio” audio device on the iMac.
Using the “Default Audio” audio device, Bluetooth works as expected.
Maybe it’s not a bug but a feature…

I also learned that only here in the forum. Roon uses a noble RAAT protocol for transport, no BluTooth signal comes close.

Wired headphones provide the better sound experience with Roon. Even those in the price range of Beats.

Yes. When enjoying Roon music on my Linn Akkurate set, I use Dan Clark Aeon electrostatic headphones via an RME DAC headphone amp.

But during work, using my iMac, hands-free and noise cancelling are more important than superior sound quality.

There are two Mac audio options in Roon, try the other one! I can’t check with screen shots at the mo, but I think it works if you send Roon to the Mac, and select Bluetooth as the MacOS system output.

Aha, I see you’ve updated your post with this info, lol.

Its a feature  and not exclusive mode… sound quality will be better using Core Audio.
