Is there a way to find the metadata I’ve manually edited in Roon?
I’m planning to report the corrections I’ve made in the past.
I have submitted “Data Corrections” to Allmusic before: https://www.allmusic.com/data-corrections
As shown in the attached image, I can download artist, album, and track information in Excel format, but the data doesn’t indicate whether the source was Roon, the original file, or a manual edit.
I recall seeing in past threads that there is no way to directly access the Roon database.
It doesn’t appear that the Roon API provides this kind of information either.
That’s what I suspected as well, but I thought I’d check with support just to be sure.
It would be great if there were a developer mode, but it doesn’t look like there is one.
It’s unfortunate that this won’t work because your intended use case is quite noble.
It sounds like you’re aiming to export a dedicated field for “Data Source” to count by “Edit.” Most objects within Roon would possibly show a mixed “Roon or Edit” output for this Data Source column, depending on what data was pulled from other cloud metadata sources, so it would be quite difficult to get a dedicated list. See here:
Roon doesn’t have this type of granular metadata exploration in its current form; you’ll need to pursue dedicated audio file management software like m3ptag that could apply these tags per track and then export, to keep a list of anything for which you submitted an AllMusic correction outside Roon. You could then export or Focus by this tag. This would work moving forward, but you’d have to start applying the tags to any content you correct (ie. “Allmusic correction” at the track or album level).
We recommend creating a feature request that outlines your desired functionality here. Roon is always reviewing ways to improve the product, and this curatorial feature seems like it’s necessary for your workflow.
