Played this to death a couple of years ago. Puzzle Box fave track
Latest one not a patch ⦠too djenty too atonal
Awesome album, and my 2nd favourite Opeth disc. If you have not already done so, do check out Still Life - there are some growl vocals (which I certainly do not mind) but there is just so much awesomeness there. Face of Melinda - doesnāt get too much better than that!
Stellar show, with two outstanding metal acts. And I was right up at the frontā¦
Damnation is excellent, Deliverance is really heavy but as @Rockhound suggested try Still Life.
I wrote little bit about Opeth earlier to this thread.
Posting this before I forget then checking out Still Life
Thanks @Rockhound
Agree definitely ā¦Damnation⦠so good
Missed that one cheers
Big change in style obviously these days but pale communion and heritage also pretty great
Speaking of more mellow/ acoustic offerings from bands that are normally much heavier
Cant say I care for any of their other stuff but this one I dig
New Gojira track! New album out on April 30th.
Great news, it has been a long time since Magma was released! There was some talk about Gojira couple weeks ago in this thread but at that time release date was not known.
I really like Gojira. I have seen them live twice. And it was absolutely great! Obviously I canāt wait the new album. It has indeed been to long.
Btw, I think this track is very atmospheric. I love it.
Wilderun released yesterday video of Iron Maiden cover Seventh Son of the Seventh Son. Song is an a rerelease of their excellent Veil of Imagination. It is not available on Tidal version. Covers are hard to judge but I like this one.
Scott I was surprised this was classed as Metal (though I did note the normally much heavier comment).
I like this, but would classify it as rock but pretty nothing stronger.
I will listen to some other albums as well, but this feels like a good thing to have in the library.
EDIT : OK I have been listening to Blood and Stone now, and can feel the Hard Rock/Metal vibe
Mike
Best cover ever: For Whom The Bell Tolls by Moonsorrow.
Hi Mike yes indeed time travelers and bonfires not hard rock in any way more itās a bit of a departure from their normal work which tends to be down tuned new metal type riffery
Itās a side project really but I think it brings out their strong points I.e stripped back vocal and musicianship that arenāt always quite so apparent
Spot on Scott, I have listened to both and agree with you.
Wilderunās cover was OK - but this only made me listen to the REAL Seventh Son by Maiden, the best heavy band on Earth - what an awesome song, what an awesome album. And probably one of the best concerts of my life when I attended their 25th anniversary of the album in Zurich a few years ago.
One of the few songs that gives me goose bumps whenever I listen to it - simply awesome.
For me that was easier because I have never been big Iron Maiden fan. Covers are always harder if someone plays your favourite songs.
Btw, I did the same thing, I listened original right after that video
So as a Finn, listen to the cover I recommended you - Moonsorrow absolutely smashes the original from Metallica.
I already did and it is not too bad but Metallicaās original is much better Maybe same thing here that you had with Wilderun. But Moonsorrow is something I hardly ever listen.
