Speaking of countries… lately I have been discovering Australian metal and there has been excellent finds and also reminders of old albums that I had not played for a while. Here’s couple…
One of the best progressive metal albums of last year was Dyssidia’s debut Costly Signals. Very progressive and could take couple listens to get into it.
This is little older but worth checking out for progressive/symphonic metal fans. It is very heavy at times but that is combined with lighter parts.
And not so well known melodic death metal band Be`lakor, sounds really like something from Scandinavia!
I’m addicted to this album. Something I listen again and again. I love the voice of Maria Brink. For me she is one of the best female metal singers. I have recently rebuilt my library. Therefor the play count is only 5, otherwise it would be something like 27.
The other albums of “In this moment” I like too, but for me this one is outstanding.
I’ll have to add a couple of recently found favorites. These are more to the progressive end of the metal scale, right up my alley:
First up, another Swedish band. Lovely variation on my favorite theme, Tool:
Secondly, German i think, lovely instrumental metal:
Glad you like it, I posted that to listening thread about a week ago. Just found that album then and I think it is not as widely known album as it should. In The Woods had members from Katatonia, Anathema and Empereror.
I think idea is to listen Powerslave while Bruce tweets information about the album. Correct me if I am wrong if you are more familiar with Listening party!
Had a bit of a binge recently with Protest the Hero’s latest, some Ihsahn, Pain of Salvation… and Roon Radio threw out some The Ocean, which was nice. Hadn’t listened to them in a while, highly underrated. So now revisiting in full, gone from Fogdiver through the disco, now on Anthropocentric - don’t think I’ve listened through five albums from one band on the trot before
