Metal music discussion 🤘 [2021-03]

Love that album, going to add it after my current queue, I have not heard it in ages.
There are good and bad live albums, when they are done well they can be outstanding, just so many are done badly

Don’t know Royal Hunt so going to add one of them as well

Spun up some Royal Hunt via Spotify via my Echo Dot while doing the " honeydew" list in the house.
Sounds similar to Shadow Gallery for sure.
Looks like 16 albums on Qobuz to work through :open_mouth:

However now I have a few minutes to sit down and relax I decided to try one of the tapes I bought last week.
Sounds freaking awesome!

I totally forgot that album and only now realized I have not listened to it since my cassette copy wore out years ago. I never replaced it. I will have to rectify that immediately.

I listened to Powerslave a couple of times in the last month but not listened to this album in year’s either and I also had my copy on tape.

As a side note, Maiden makes for fantastic mountain biking music. Not that I would go against recommendations and ride with headphones or anything.

I use bone induction headphones on my bike to be safe, but Maiden would not have enough bass to be truly enjoyable with those so it’s mostly podcasts.

Maiden would be great on headphones with proper bass though (especially on a downhill run)

Them thar Steve Harris riffs on a full blown system can start the windows bowing…
Much fun!

I have never tried the bone induction headphones. I have some Bose soundsport headphones and just keep the volume down low enough to hear what is going on around me. What I call the classic Maiden horse gallop drum beat makes for a good cadence on the bike.

Ah good old Nicko McBrainless drumming is quite something.
Useless factoid…he has a BBQ restaurant in Coconut Creek right here in Florida!

I learned to love Maiden during my military school times - great lyrics, many of them based on real historical facts, played by a bunch of really smart and cultured guys.

Agreed. I remember after taking Latin (and the subsequent exposure to some Greek and Roman mythology) being struck by Flight of Icarus in particular at the time.

Yes one of my favourites, but the writing is very strong and we all love ourselves some mythology

Maiden and Dio cover a fantastic cross section of mythology between them
Classic British Iron Ore Rock at it’s best!

What an amazingly great live album - just listening to Children of the Damned on my Aeon 2 Closed cans (my little boy is already asleep, so no way to use speakers) gives me goose bumps - Maiden is simply the best metal band of all time.

I cant stand rap but I do like this album even with elements of it.

I can’t remember the last time I saw anybody mention Saliva.
I saw them live about 4 years back.
Have that album and 4 or 5 others of theirs.
Rap metal?
Nu metal?

I guess the rap metal tag fits a number of the songs. To me its just stupid fun rock.

Exactly, pretty harmless fun.
Might have to dig a CD out now😁

In fact their cover of Michael Jacksons “they don’t care about us” is pretty decent in all honesty.

But if I had to choose between Saliva and Sevendust…
