Hi @Glynn_Marlow ,
The guide @BlackJack provided provides some great documentation on how to resolve this issue, but if you have any specific questions or difficulties with the guide, just let us know, we’d be happy to assist. Thanks!
Thanks, I was just confused as it says to uncompress the file twice (presumably just the 73mb file) but there doesn’t seem to be an option to uncompress anything when I copy it from the link. Just drop it onto the Nuc in the specified folder?
Also I’m having a new Nuc delivered tomorrow as the last one I bought stopped working when I tried to update the bios. Is it ok to ignore the bios update stage?
Hello @Glynn_Marlow ,
If you can’t uncompress the file further, then yes, it is the one you want to put in the Codecs folder. Also, yes, you can try to skip the BIOS update and see if things work as expected. If it’s not booting or hardware components are not working right (HDMI, WiFi, etc.) then you can try to update the BIOS.
I’m trying to ‘flash’ the .img.gz file via Etcher but get the following error message:

That error seems to be relatively well known one. I found an article discussing some troubleshooting steps. Pro Fixes for Etcher Error Opening Source Something Went Wrong Please try out those troubleshooting steps and let us know if you still have the issue.
