Description of Issue

My iPad cannot connect to or find my Roon core

It has been working for several months. I did take my iPad on a trip out of the country but did not use it connect with Roon. Upon my return I have not been able to connect with Roon core.

Welcome to the community David.

I’m wondering if upon your return from your trip your iPad connected to a different WiFi network? Potentially one that is part of a Spectrum gateway/router, and not your own TP-Link router. If that is the case, you iPad wil, actually be “outside” of your TP-Link network and will not be able to see your core.

Thanks, but My IPad is connected to the correct TP network. Even ARC on my iPhone can’t connect to my core.

@David_Hadlock, is your Nucleus showing as a connected device in your TP-Link router’s web administration settings? Can you connect to the Nucleus by typing http://nucleus or http://nucleus.local in a web browser?

I do not see my Nucleus in the Tether App I installed to manage my router. (I did this because I had trouble getting to the admin settings for the TP-Link, they recommended using this app). Typing in the nucleus or nucleus.local urls didn’t work. Got server not found response.
I was able to update the firmware on the router, but still had issues getting to the admin for TP-Link (it kept saying the computer was not on the network, but both the ipad and the computer are connected to the internet wirelessly via tp link.)

It seems your Nucleus may have an issue since you cannot see it on the router or the network. I am tagging @support and they will respond as they work through their queue.

Hey @David_Hadlock,

Ben with support here, thanks for writing in and welcome to the community! Sorry to hear you’re running into issues with your Nucleus.

If possible, could you please test hooking up your Nucleus to a monitor via HDMI? Power on the Nucleus and share a screenshot of what you see, if anything.

I’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks!

@David_Hadlock, can you type its IP address (http://192.168.0.225) in a browser and get to the Nucleus’ web admin page?

this is as far as I could get

And that IP address is not showing as connected to the router in the TP Tether app? Can you share what LAN IP address your router is assigned? I am assuming it is somthing similar to 192.168.0.1?

I found that the nucleus is showing as a wired connection with the IP: 192.1680.225

The internet connection IP (which is the router?) is: 47.37.170.222
Attempted to upload screen shots of the tether app, not sure if that worked.

You missed a dot. It should read 192.168.0.225, which is what one would expect.

The internet connection IP isn’t important. The IPv4 LAN IP is what one cares about.

Here’s mine -

Yours should be similar and your devices should have an IP in the form of 192.168.0.xxx. Your Nucleus shows as 192.168.0.225. So that’s good.

What happens if you click on one of the 192.168.0.225 in your list? Do you get to the GUI?

It looks to me as if you performed a (Google) search on the IP address of your Nucleus. You should also include the http:// prefix in the address bar of your browser:

http://192.168.0.225

or alternatively click the link to it as already posten by (@)Robert_F.

Thanks to all for the help. I found the nucleus UI. Updated software and firmware.

Best,

David
