Missing tracks in Roon but available in iTunes

Is there a quick way repairing missing tracks in Roon that are available in iTunes.
E.g. two tracks are missing of a Neil Young album in Roon. When I check iTunes the files are available and can be played as well (the iTunes Finder folder contains both files).

My current solution:

  1. copy iTunes to backup location
  2. Remove album in both Roon and iTunes
  3. Import album into iTunes and perform a ‘force rescan’ in settings for iTunes

Actually i expected that a ‘force rescan’ should repair missing tracks anyway. But it doesn’t.

There must (hopefully) be a faster way to get this fixed.

Further investigation: looks like this only concerns 24bit files. I checked a few 24bit albums and all miss a couple of files.
Hmmm.

Hello @Raymond_Klein_Robben,

Can you please try such test:

  1. Add an album with ‘missing’ files to a separate folder
  2. Launch Roon
  3. Disable iTunes folder
  4. Add a folder with and album to Roon as a Watched
  5. Check if the albums contains all the tracks.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks

Vova,
I opened the album in Roon with the ‘missing’ files.
Then I added one album to a separated watched folder (without deleting upfront songs/files in whether iTunes or Roon).
(Note: files now exist in two folders; 1) iTunes folder 2) Roon watched folder)
Once I had added the watched folder Roon started searching the folder.
When returning to the opened album in Roon, Roon reported the album had been deleted.
Then I searched on the album name again and…found it including all songs.

I’m curious now regarding your conclusion

Additional info.
While Roon reported the album had been deleted it still appears to be present.
See screenshot. Now two versions exits and concerns "New favorite"album.

Hey @Raymond_Klein_Robben,

Thank you for feedback. My conclusion is that most likely this issue has something to do with an iTunes and how those missing tracks were represented in iTunes Library.xml file.
As for the deleted/re-appeared album, this is an expected behavior for duplicate albums, that’s why third step of my test was ‘Disable iTunes folder’. So that chain of actions (with album deleting and re-appearing) won’t confuse you.

At this point I would like to look at your logs (I’ll send more info via private message) and ask few additional questions:

  • can you give me few examples of the missing files: name of the album / name of the missing tracks
  • would you mind to go to details page of each ‘New favorite’ album and check the track list. Is the iTunes album still missing few tracks and an album from the watched folder has full list of tracks?

Thanks in advance.

Two more albums with missing file:
Careless Love from Madeleine Peyroux: missing files in Roon are 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10

Midnight Blue from Kenny Burrell: missing files are 4,5,6,7
