Roon let go of its convolution filters in my system around 4.37pm my time / today 08/05/23.
Running current Roon build 2.0 1259, And RoPieee 2023.04 (0892)
Channels 1 and 2 went full output “white noise” (I use channels 1,2,3,4 for an active 2 way setup. 1/2 Woofers, 3/4 Compression). Clearly not ideal, and I assume without the convolution crossover active.
Can Roon please review my logs to see what occurred?
Obviously this is not ideal, and has the ability to cause speaker damage, so I would like to understand what has happened - and if the logs help.
… Well I have configured my Motu so channel 1 and 2 (Stereo channels) are the JBL woofers.
Motu channel 3 & 4 run my compression drivers, which have a 6db safety network.
I have uploaded the logs to the Roon server, any insight would be appreciated. @spockfish is it worth sending any logs your way to check around this time stamp?
Appreciate your time.
Well I once read a wise post on StereoNET, that recommend reserving channels 1 and 2 on your chosen interface for the woofers, so if convolution did let go, you don’t blow drivers.
It would be great to understand if the logs can help diagnose why this would occur.
My amps are set to low gain @ 9db - so there’s that also.
Hi Noris, Is there any chance my logs could be checked to see what caused the convolution DSP to fail? If there is something I could do from my end to prevent this from reoccurring it would be great to understand. Thanks
So over the last few days, My Motu MK5 Ultralite USB connection has become a little sketchy, sometimes acting up with digital glitch sounds audible throughout music playback.
This would occur Randomly.
Endpoints I tested with included: Windows 10, Linux Ubuntu, Ropiee endpoints.
In an effort to find the cause, I checked Motu firmware, and rolled it back to file:
UltraLite-mk5_V1_1.1.7+2398_V2_21_signed_xz
Since reverting firmware the Motu Ultralite has been behaving extremely well, stable with no USB issues, or digital glitches when connected to my Linux Ubuntu Pi4 + Roon Bridge endpoint (Moved away from Ropiee).
