This has just Roon server software running and was an old ‘PC’ that I used for running Roon server.
It works but I need to move the room server.

Description of Issue
The Surface Pro2 is giving up the ghost - battery swelling etc - and generally not going to last much longer.
I want to change the roon server from the Surface Pro2 to the MacBook Air.
I have read stuff on this forum and online but wanted to lean on Roon support and this community to point me in the right direction in terms of steps I’ll need to complete to ‘move’ and then turn-off the SurfacePro2.
Thanks in anticipation of your support and community contributions.
Martin - thanks for the link.
It was one of the items I was referencing when I indicated I’d researched and read about things online.
Whilst I would endeavour to follow the instructions/steps in the guide as diligently as possible, I was interested in whether there was anything else - maybe in my setup etc. that others in the community might want to mention/advise about.
Hope it’s OK to ask that.
If you follow the steps, you shouldn’t have any issues. Since you have both computers, you can always return to the Surface if the migration goes awry. The most important is to follow the steps accurately to completion.
Even if you have scheduled backups set up on the Surface, creating a new up-to-date backup is a good idea. Likewise, if you back up to Dropbox or a similar cloud service, do not restore from this. Ideally, back up to a local network share or USB HDD or SSD.
And if you need any clarification during the process, ask here first.
