Moving HQplayer from one machine to another

Hi-

Wanted to clarify a few things since I’ve seen lots of threads here and elsewhere.

  1. Can I move an HQPlayer desktop license from one machine to another with the same OS? (Ie from one Mac to another Mac, or one Ubuntu to another)? Does this require @jussi_laako to do anything manual or is it self service?
  2. Can I move an HQP desktop license from one OS to another (ie can I move my license from a Mac to Ubuntu)? Does this require @jussi_laako to do anything manual or is it self service?
  3. Can I move an HQP embedded from one machine to another [Yes - well documented on Signalyst site, requires Jussi to replace the hardware fingerprint, ca USB key which is portable]
  4. Can I move between HQP embedded and desktop? [No. they are separate software products and you must buy both]

Hoping we can get a canonical answer because there is some data out there I think is out of date. I’d love it if there was a FAQ section on Signalyst’s site, I think it would save Jussi some hassle

Stuff I don’t exactly trust but might be right:

Stuff I probably trust because jussi weighed in but it conflicts with what I’ve seen elsewhere:

HQPlayer Desktop licenses can be freely exchanged between operating systems and hardware. You simply upload the xml file. Of course you can only use the license on one PC. Therefore HQPlayer requires an internet connection to prevent misuse.

HQPlayer Embedded was originally developed for device manufacturers. Therefore the license is bound to the hardware. With a USB dongle, the hardware is replaced by the dongle, i.e. you can then use the license on any computer.

Desktop and Embedded licenses cannot be exchanged with each other.
