Description of Issue

The system generally plays streamed Tidal MQA tracks well. The Pro-ject DAC identifies and decodes the MQA file from the Nucleus. It has a display that indicates “MQA.” However, sometimes the Pro-ject DAC “MQA” light cuts in and out during play, and the sound changes noticeably when it does. Of course, I’d like it to just work, but I’m also wondering how to troubleshoot. Is it slow internet, slow wifi, slow processing in Nucleus, slow processing in DAC? How to know?

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve experienced some issues with your Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital DAC when playing MQA.

We’ve gotten these reports from some customers who have this unit. In device setup please try the following settings.

Enable MQA core decoder to Yes
MQA capabilities as Renderer only
