MQA disappointing

It seems Sonos went for the real hi-res PCM.

Who really wants to listen to hi res on Sonos speakers ?

You’re forgetting the Sonos Port (nee Connect).

Found a comparison of pcm and mqa on reddit.
It concludes that mqa is nothing more than a minimizing filter being applied.
Something I’ve been telling here for quite some time.

That settles it, I guess. The reasons to support MQA get smaller by the day.

This is what John Darko posted:

"What happens next I had to pull not from the press release but from my Qobuz press contact directly.

We might presume that S2 Sonos hardware simply downsamples all 24bit/96kHz and 24bit/192kHz streams to 24bit/48kHz — but we’d be wrong. Qobuz will instead – for now at least – serve a CD-quality (16bit/44.1kHz) stream. Downsampling may or may not come later."

Truth will out.

True. What’s it have? A coax out?

That quote could be used to justify any activity in the world :joy:

Hi all,

As part of the steps to reduce very large threads Mods are closing this thread.

Ordinarily we would re-open a new thread, but given that it is now three days since anyone last posted here I’m kind of hoping that everyone has accepted that everything that can possibly be said on this topic has been (repeatedly) said.

Before converting another thread into the same discussion, please, for the sake of everyone’s sanity, consider the possibility of not posting something you have said before.
