Description of Issue

Newly added files not recognized by Roon. I drop files into the InternalStorage folder as I’ve always done, the files finish copying but Roon does not recognize that new music has been added.
Force rescan does nothing, and nothing appears in skipped files. I’ve tried adding several albums. I’ve also tried dragging the files and dropping onto the Roon interface on my Mac, I click the spinning wheel, it opens the File copying (for import) window but it continues to spin at track 1 of xx and never completes- I’ve left it running for many hours.

Are these new albums or did you previously import those from a streaming service? If so the new ones aren’t probably not considered new and you can find them in the versions tab of the existing album’s details page.

These are new albums, CD rips, not previously imported, though I checked the versions tab anyway and only Tidal versions are shown, not the newly added files.

Then please follow the guide:

I know, you already did some of the steps but it seems to me that some are also still missing.

If you can’t figure it out, please send details (the album, the files in the watched folder) about your case.

The top screenshot shows the folder view in Roon- nothing added since 14 Aug 2024. The two below show the flash drive on the left, the copied files on the right.

I’ve added files in this fashion since I’ve had the Nucleus+.

Yes but it is expectation and could be wrong. Having the list sorted alphabetically, showing that the Hugh Masekela folder is missing would be a more objective proof. Also: Is this supposed to be a single multi-disc album? Roon may have an issue to correctly identify it as such. See also:

If the album(s) are really missing without a trace of some sorts, this is usually because Roon’s import/identification routine is thrown off for some reason. Often because of path (too long, unsupported special characters) or metadata (again unsupported special characters, wrong encoding). Official support may be able to find clues looking at the server’s logs.

PS: I assume you already rebooted the Nucleus+ – if not, please give it a try.

I had rebooted a couple of times already, but not before I had tried the force rescan. That did not do anything when I did it, but now that it restarted it took a good bit of time, then the screen came up that it was processing newly added music. Two of the albums now show up. I’ll try adding the others and report.

It’s all back to normal now. The various steps to poke and prod up to the final reboot seems to have set everything straight. Thanks for your help in troubleshooting!

Former support person here, always nice when someone takes the time to write or call back to thank you for your help, time, support. It’s important to know the final fix to help the next person too! Thank-you to all who do and have done this for any product!

Same boat! What the hell is going on? I’m adding music to a folder that is registering in Roon… and yet… the tracks are not showing in roon… These are actually my own tracks too. So this isn’t some copyright thing, if there was a concern here. It’s so so so counterintuitive frankly. Is this some new bug?

In my experience with this issue, which had never happened before, force rescan of library didn’t work until I rebooted the Nucleus+ afterward.

DEEPLY apologise. Forgive me. I will learn from this feedback, thank you, truly, Marc.

Mac OS user here:
Activity Monitor app > Search for “roon” quit all the threads. restart.
That did it for me.
Profanely,
Marc

Your screenshot clearly shows that the folders are not following the Roon guidelines as outlined in the help article referenced by @BlackJack. That’s why you had the issue.

Hi @Favio_Barrionuevo,

If everything is working now would you mind marking this thread as solved?

Apologies, yes. Everything is wonderful again. I’ll mark it resolved.
