Music mutes after a minute or less

Hello,

I recently setup Roon on a new computer: Intel Core i7-8700 CPU @ 3.2GHz / 16GB of RAM (Windows 10 Pro and Roon is on an M.2 SSD). I have a Devialet Expert 250 connected via ethernet using Devialet AIR.

I hit play on a track, it’ll play roughly for a minute before dropping out. I’ve tried disabling the firewall, turning off any Roon background processes and I’m at a loss. Any help would be appreciated!

Attached is a snippet of the log:

Hi @Edwin_Wong,

So we can better assist you, please describe your network configuration/topology, including any networking hardware currently in use, so we can have a clear understanding of how your devices are communicating.

Does this occur with all content that you play to this device?

Do you experience this issue with other devices?

Hi Dylan,

Roon/Winfows 10 > Powerline.
Powerline > Netgear R7000 wireless router (with smart connect disabled) > Netgear unmanaged switch > Devialet Expert 250.

The same issue occurs through the chromecast, which would be wireless to the R7000.

Please let me know if you need any additional info. Thanks,

bye.

AS a test, plug the core directly into the router. powerline can cause issues. Best to isolate it to see if it is the cause.

I forgot I rewired and had that wrong — Roon / Windows 10 > R7000 > Switch > Devialet 250. R7000 > Powerline // Powerline > Modem. The internal network is wired, except for the Chromecast.

Hi @Edwin_Wong,

Where is your music library stored? Directly on the Core machine?

If you play to System Output of the Core machine do you experience the same issue?

Everything is local, directly on the Core. I just tried playing a track locally on the computer and it cut out. This time I got a message flash up: “An audio file is loading slowly…”.

Hi @Edwin_Wong,

So, just to confirm, playing local content to System Output of the Core machine still causes this behavior to occur?

Have there been any Windows updates recently, or any other changes?

If you take a look at resource monitor is anything running with high usage?

Has this configuration worked for you previously?

My disk activity was at 100% as I was copying over files and Roon was processing some of those files. I didn’t think that would interfere with Roon but I managed to play some tracks without any hiccups. I think this thread can be set to resolved. Thanks everyone!
