My library regularly increases in size giving messages such as 994 albums of 497. I am running rock on intel based mini pc with linux op system.
So far only cure is to reboot the computer.

I see that from time to time. I donât think itâs really an issue. If it bothers you, reboot your Roon server. I usually just ignore it.
Just to make sure, are you accidentally backing up Roonâs database into a watched folder?
Do you find itâs dependent upon the sort order of your album collection?
Except maybe doubling of the metadata size for no good reason.
It is backed up to my Nas however it is in a separate folder to the stored music. I have my nas as a watched device.
I donât know, I think itâs just a problem with the indication, not actually doubling up on the library.
That is correct however I get multiple entries for albums in the library.
I have never seen that.
I have now set that, will see if it helps.
Yes it is. It also when it starts to do this is show duplicates of albums where there is none. If a library system canât report properly itâs broken and this has been like this for months and months broke at some time various artist issues arose. I have reported this many times and have a feedback thread on it. Roon are well aware of it but seem to have done nothing.
It will return if itâs set to one or the other. Tried it both ways and it alway comes back after a while.
Nope it shows duplicates as well.
You mentioned that your NAS was set up as a âwatched deviceâ. If this is the entire NAS that is being watched then that backup is in the watched area (not a good idea). If you are backing up to a directory that is being watched, Roon will see it as more files to catalogue and will play havoc on your set-up.
@CrystalGipsy my Roon has been up for a few weeks now without this issue occurringâŠsee below for âproofâ of this working on my sideâŠare you still seeing it on your end with build 1462?
Itâs still shown up once since last update
Itâs not this at all my backups are on a completely different system and this happens to me. Letâs not distract from the issue that has been around for at least 6 months.
LOL, youâll notice that I was addressing the OP and the OPâs statement and not youâre issue. It is still something to look into and not a distraction IMO. The OPâs issue may not be the same as your issue even if it might look that way from reading the description in the forum.
I believe it will be the same issue, until proved otherwise. This shows a higher count of albums that exists on disc and in the database which is something that started with this bug. Even if you have same storage added twice by mistake it would not show this it would give you same album count just you would have two versions of each one under the album and would show as a duplicate. In this scenario they are not shown as duplicates in the db but you view multiples in the album view often more than twice and all pointing to the same database version on disk.
Mine so far has shown the difference from 4-5 albums to double. A reboot also clears it temporarily as it does for the op it returns over time. I have not seen or heard of Roon doing what it does here in any other scenario.
Please explain as to how even if pointing to a back up your database that doesnât contain any music files can add to your album count? Roons watched folders looks for music files or images. I just added my backup location of my db to Roon to test it doesnât add a thing to Roon. So I doubt this is the cause.
I also have this problem now, for the last couple of months. My libary seems to increase in size until it is just the double of it real size. This affect both the albums I have in my watched folder (NAS) and the albums I have added from Tidal and Qobuz. I run Rock on a NUC. My back up is not on my NAS. The way to solve this is a reboot, that does fix this, but not for long. AFter a couple of weeks the libary increases afain, and I sudenly seem to have two copys of every album.
