My M3U playlists are not importing or showing

HI, sorry another query here, just trying to set the system up, like it so far but this one I cant work out.

Core Machine is a Dell Latitude 5490, 16GB ram, Core i5 1.9ghz connected to a synology ds720+ NAS with the music on it.

Network is an AsusGT-AX6000 on a 500Mbit/s internet connection. Core PC is connected wirelessly. No VPN

At the moment I have one android 12 phone connected. A OnePlus 8T

The library is about 20k tracks and there are about 20 playlists I’m looking to import initially but probably another 20 later.

I have Roon looking at the root music drive on the NAS which has a few library folders in (mine, my wife’s and my eldest son’s). I’v ebeen using Media Monkey to manage my music for years and have a number of playlists. I’ve exported them from Media Monkey to the root music drive, in M3U format, in a seperate folder called “Roon Playlist Files”. I can find these playlists on other media players such as bubble UPnP and Musiccast and they play fine so the links in them must be right but they are refusing to appear in Roon, I have “shared playlists” ticked on (tried off too) and I’ve tried simply dragging dropping them directly into the playlist list which looked promising at first when Roon offered to move them for me but they still are not showing up. I’ve opened one of the playlists with notepad and this picture shows the detail. I have no idea if this is right or wrong.

If each playlist is going to need to have every line individually amended that could be a showstopper for me. Everything else with Roon has been great though.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hold the front door! sorry for being such a newbie. Something literally just occurred to me as I was typing that. So I’ll leave hti here in case anyone has the same trouble.

The playlists need to be in the root folder, not in a folder which is in the root folder!

all working now. I’ll get me coat.

…and now they’ve disappeared again!

Left the core on overnight got up today and now I cant see the playlists any more.

From here any thoughts would now be very much appreciated @support

Hi @Darren_Smith ,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you please share further screenshots of what the playlists look like on the hard drive?

Compared to when it was working vs when you noticed the issue in the morning, did you add more playlists to Roon?

Would it be possible for you to try to start Roon in a special “flag” mode (instructions here), with the flag of -playlisttrace, reproduce the issue, and send us the Roon logs with this trace enabled?

You can access Roon logs by using these instructions and upload the logs here:

Hopefully, this makes sense, but do let us know if you have any questions, thanks!

Bonjour Darren
