Describe the issue

MY ROON CONNECTION TO NAD M10 DROPS OFF INEXPLICABLY

In last few months the connection between my Roon and my NAD M10 (v1, not V2 or 3) drops off inexplicably. I read the community blogs and tried various methods to reconnect. I even reinstalled Roon. In the beginning it worked, several times in fact, then that trick didn't work any more. Then I read about unplugging M10, which I did and the connection was restored. After about a week, today it's dropped off again. I tried unplugging M10, but this time it didn't work. This is VERY FRUSTRATING. If this can't be resolved I'll have to terminate my Roon subscription.

Describe your network setup

Nokia broadband modem; D-Link router; Google Mesh

OK, I tried everything: switched off and on the Local Network setting for Roon, rebooted my Mac, restarted my NAS M10, and NOW IT WORKS. Can someone please tell me whats the REAL problem??

I think it’s the wifi connection of your server. The problem Will likely reoccur. Try a ethernet connection if possible.

From Roon help center. Your server should always have a wired connection.

Hello @wkseck,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support, and welcome back to our community!

We’ve gone ahead and enabled diagnostics for your account, and from the logs, we’re seeing frequent dropouts related to your network connection.

Here’s an example from the diagnostic log:

04/18 11:26:46 Trace: [raat] [NAD M10 @ 192.168.86.48:42155] connecting (attempt 1)
04/18 11:26:46 Warn: [raat_ll/client] [NAD M10 @ 192.168.86.48:42155] failed to connect(0) No route to host
04/18 11:26:46 Trace: [raat] [NAD M10 @ 192.168.86.48:42155] => Connecting
04/18 11:26:46 Trace: [raat] [NAD M10 @ 192.168.86.48:42155] => ConnectionFailed

Since you’ve mentioned that your Roon Server is connected via WiFi and you’re using a Google Mesh network, we’d like you to try the following tests to help isolate the issue:

  1. Connect both the Roon Server and NAD M10 via Ethernet to your main router (bypassing the mesh, if possible).
  2. Connect both devices to a single WiFi router (not across multiple mesh nodes).

Let us know the results of these tests so we can better assist you in resolving the issue.

Kind regards,
Vadim
