NAD M10v2 - artwork

Hi there

I’m having problems getting Album Art to display consistently on my NAD M10 v2 when being played from Roon, which is picking up a BluOS group for the Audio Zone which contains the M10 and a Bluesound Soundbar+.

The following is pretty consistent:

BluOS on Mac/tablet/iPhone
Tidal App selecting the Bluesound group → shows artwork
Spotify App selecting the Bluesound group → shows artwork
Library selecting the Bluesound group → shows artwork
Roon Ready tab → No artwork

Desktop apps from Mac/tablet/iPhone
Tidal App selecting the Bluesound group → shows artwork
Spotify App selecting the Bluesound group → shows artwork

Roon from Mac/tablet/iPhone
Tidal App selecting the Bluesound group → no artwork sometimes
Library → no artwork sometimes

Settings >> Player >> LCD Temporary Display is set to OFF as recommended

Roon is running on a NUC i7 - Version 2.1 (build 271) production
Connections for all devices are wired via Powerline plugs on the same network

The problem seemed to disappear when I used a Roon group rather than a BluOS group - but that may have been as a result of restart of the Roon server and having the devices grouped in Roon means that I can’t automatically switch to the TV and play, without creating the group in BluOS.

Aside from Audio via Roon, we use the HDMI eARC connection - which auto-detects and switches fine.

If there’s a prescribed way of using the M10 so we get consistent artwork that would be great - it’s a bit of a pain if I need to restart either the M10 or the Roon server regularly to make this work.

Cheers
Andy

More investigations and I think I know what’s happening.

In Bluesound if I select the M10 then add the other players to my group, then album art is shown from everywhere … Tidal/Spotify/Roon via whatever platform I choose.

However, TV sound won’t play to that group as the soundbar has the HDMI connection.

In Bluesound, if I select the Soundbar+, then add the M10 to the group, then album art is displayed from everywhere except Roon and TV sound works to that group.

I think the only way around this would be to connect the M10 to the TV via HDMI - then that would be the ‘lead’ player in the group. However this would mean running speaker cable across our living room.

If anyone has any other thoughts or ways around this, I’d be delighted to hear from them - especially as I’ve just paid for a year’s Roon subscription - which I won’t be using that much !

I’m happy to say I’ve found a solution to the problem which, given the frenetic interest in my post and the blizzard of replies, will no doubt come as a relief to many.

For music

  1. In BluOS remove all groups - just leave standalone players
  2. Use Roon to group the players you need
  3. Play music from anywhere - artwork is displayed

For TV

  1. In BluOS, select the Soundbar+ and add the M10 to it as a group
  2. TV plays - VU meters displayed on the M10

Music again

  1. In BluOS remove the group - just leaving standalone players
  2. Play from Roon using the group already created

I wish this just worked automatically, but it sounds more of a pain than it actually is - since I use the BluOS app to control TV volume anyway.
