I am considering the M33 to replace my Devialet, for a number of reasons.
One iof which is I would like a streamer which has Tidal so I can use this when Roon is playing up on the IOS Roon remote. This is taking away my enjoyment at present so I am looking at a subsitute option.
I have the Nucleus which I would keep as my Roon Core and it also has my own music files on a HD.
So I would be using the M33 streamer using Roon…
How would I connect the Nucleus to the M33? Unless I am missing something obvious
I am assuming you are using the Devialet as an amp to feed some speakers. The first thing I’d do, is investigate whether the NAD is a good pairing for your current speakers. Having listened to both NAD and Devialet, they are very different sound wise, to me, with the NAD being much more clinical.
You could get this with a streamer that plugs into the Devialet.
You don’t. The M33 is Roon Ready so you would just plug in an ethernet cable and the device should show up in the Roon Ready section under Settings/Audio.
Also, keep in mind, that if you start using Dirac room correction it will resample everything to do the room correction, usually to 24/48 but sometimes 24/96 depending on implementation and hardware. If this matters to you, I’d suggest researching and/or sending a query to NAD tech to find out the Dirac specs.
Thanks for the comprehensive reply.
At this stage just exploring my possibilities , and yes the Dev is my amp feeding the SF Olympica 2 speakers.
I know that a separate strteamer is an option but I am not really wanting to add an extra box, although its a possibility.
So as long as the Nucleus is hardwired still and so is the M33 , they would be on the same network and I would use the M33 as the Streamer?
As I say just exploring a number of options.
EDIT I was always led to beleive my D200 was a very clinical amp too
Yes, both the Nucleus and M33 would be plugged into the network via ethernet. Roon will just find the M33 and it will be an option to enable and then to play to. Now, you might have to enabled some settings on the M33, I’m not sure.
The Dev should have a SAM option for those speakers. So switching out Dev will lose you the specific speaker correction, assuming you are using it at all. If you are using it, you might try turning it off/on to see what difference it makes.
When it comes to switching an amp I always recommend trying the new amp out in your home setting with your speakers. I dropped my NAD when I shifted speakers because they didn’t pair well.
Although, I am thinking about upgrading my amp again and have been eyeing the Michi X5.
An example of what BluOS offers when ROON has crapped out. To be honest I would now be happy with BluOS as my main controller but would miss ROONs write ups.
I have M10 and C658 in different systems. I had devialet before but with different speakers so can’t compare. DIRAC is the biggest improvement to me but your mileage may vary. Very smooth sound with digital and analogue.
I mean as a quick fix I could get the TIDAL app on my TV as that is also connected to my Devialet
Like I say a lot of options to look at
Roon for me has been VERY poor since the release of ARC version . I can’t be 100% sure that this is where my problems started but it seems to be
It’s annoying as a couple of year ago i did a lot of work to get Roon all hardwired when I moved house , but I am fed up of the issues with roon affecting my music enjoyment
I don’t want to have to keep shutting down my iPad to get it to work
