NAD MCD BluOS D

Thinking of buying NAD C 389 or 399 with MCD BluOS D. This module apparently allows any input on the amp (e.g. phono?) to be shared with any other BluOS module on the same network.
So… if I’m using Roon to access the NAD amp via the MCD BluOS D module, will Roon be able to send the phono (or CD or whatever) input to another Roon endpoint (e.g. a RoPieee RP4) feeding another amp elsewhere in the house?

Hi, NAD C399 owner here. The MDC module makes NAD “Roon Ready”, it can be used with Roon as an output for Roon-sourced music. Roon itself does not route external sources.

In the BluOS app I can see the Phono and there are settings like “use compressed transport for this input”, so sending one BluOS input to another BluOS output seems possible, yet I don’t have other BluOS system to confirm. But this is BluOS functionality, not Roon’s.

Just found this - The Next Evolution in Roon Technology: Roon Ready Relay Expands Your Audio Possibilities  – Roon Labs - so perhaps one day, the NAD amplifier will work like that.

So Roon tells the BluoOS MCD what to stream, not the other way around? I was thinking that Roon merely controls or supervises what BluOS was streaming, seeing as BluOS MCD is the streamer.

From the source itself: Roon - Audio devices

Roon Ready devices are network players with Roon’s own streaming technology built right in, connected over your ethernet or WiFi network.”

The MDC2 extension card is BluOS-enabled, meaning it provides Roon-ready endpoint. And Roon uses this endpoint to stream audio using RAAT to the amplifier. It does not care what provides the endpoint and what other features BluOS might have, basically - Roon does not use BluOS. It uses the Roon-ready endpoint provided by BluOS.
